Stars Shopping Fabian Brunnstrom

The Edmonton Journal is reporting the Dallas Stars are reportedly looking to acquire a puck-moving defenseman for Fabian Brunnstrom. The Stars are believed to be looking for an upgrade to their powerplay, but the paper suggests they refuse to trade forwards James Neal and Loui Eriksson. According to the Journal, the Stars would be willing to trade winger Fabian Brunnstrom.

Brunnstrom, 24, was highly coveted by a number of teams last summer including the Maple Leafs and was reportedly very close to being signed by previous Vancouver Canucks GM, Dave Nonis, who is now Senior V.P of Hockey Operations for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I wouldn’t be suprised if the Leafs still had interest in him, after a decent 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points last year including a hat trick in his debut.

He currently has one year left on his $850,000 contract with bonus incentives that could increase his salary to US$2.5 million
