I really dont see why they need him, Halpern is quite capable of centering the second line

  2. wingerxxx says:

Halpern is better suited for a third line role. He’s a very good checking center, it’s best to use him in that role, and have Modano focused on scoring.

For Lindros himself, this is a great fit. Not much scrutiny for him. He’ll be playing in the Western Conference, behind Modano, and in a system that should suit him.

For the Stars, I’m not so sure. I still don’t believe that he’s capable of playing effective hockey for long stretches. The difference between Toronto and Dallas, is that the Leafs have young centers like Stajan and Wellwood that need the ice time, and have productive years ahead of them. They’re also in the mix for Peca and Allison, who are better options than Lindros right now. The Stars, on the other hand…I believe that they are taking what they can get here. They needed a quick fix at center, since they don’t have the younger guys at center coming up right away. Their next best fit would have been Stu Barnes, who is a better winger than center. Halpern is a third line guy. Lindros is still a big gamble, and if he can’t succeed in Dallas, I doubt he will be able to anywhere.

God dammit, JFJ has ruined the team, we now have a top six of Sundin, O’neill, Tucker, Wellwood, Stajan, and Steen, that’s rediculous. The Leafs suck, and JFJ has driven this team into the ground.

Maybe at the end of the season John Ferguson will be fired! And Pat Quinn has rejected the Bruins offer because he knows Ferguson will be fired, and he’ll come back to the organization to save it! And bring Domi and Lindros back with him! Maybe he can sign Nieuwy, Roberts, Nolan, and Mogilny too! And the Leafs can stop sucking!

Tis a grand fantasy… but for now, I’d rather watch the Raptors play the Knicks then watch the Leafs.

  5. thatleafsguy says:

    Domi is done!

  6. LeafyMcLeaf says:

So is Gary Roberts, I don’t care!

  7. thatleafsguy says:

So now I guess this means welcome back Gary Roberts,……

I swear if Allison gets re-signed in the next couple days I am officially locking my self out from watching Maple Leaf hockey for the entire year next year or until the Allison contract expires, which ever happens first!!!

JFJ is now officially the new most hated Toronto sports figure in Toronto sports history.

  8. Rickler says:

If the leafs re-sign allison and get anson carter on the waiver wire, id be pleased and surprized. carter and allison have great chemistry together (both played in boston together) and would give the leafs some secondary scoring beyond sundin… i wasnt sure if anyone had remembered that carter and allison played together in B town, so i figured id refresh some memories.

As for Peca, i cant say id be too horny about that signing, the leafs already have some talented defensive centers… well stajan and steen can definitley play both ends of the ice… at the right price it would be a good signing….

    anyways, ENOUGH.

I think leaf fans and flyer fans have the fact that they hate their GMs

  10. mush124 says:

it doesnt look good for the leafs at all the way this team looks on paper. However O’neill could come back to his old form and pot in 35 goals. he’s fully capapable thats for sure. And the way he can do that is by actually getting himself into the games physically, he use to hit every thing that moved. And combine that with the possiblity that the leafs might have good goltending and anything could happen. But again, those are big IFS. basically if the leafs wanna succeed they need a big season from O’neill and raycroft. those will be the 2 keys

  11. magnifikko says:

what happened to the ” JFJ is amazing” lol toronto sucks mwhahahahha.

  12. lesglorieux says:

please don’t start this again. it’s so annoying.

  13. wingerxxx says:

If Stajan and Wellwood light it up this year (which is possible), you’re going to thank your GM for getting rid of Lindros. The Leafs need to look towards the future, and Lindros is not a part of it. Even the Stars aren’t giving him more than a one year deal, apparently.

It’s not the end of the world. If your team signs Allison or Peca, they are the better options over Lindros at the moment. They can at least be counted on to play over half a season. Toronto is going to be a hungry young club next year.

  14. doanerfan says:

Man, with the Pacific heavy with enforcers and big time hitters, Lindros is going to get another concussion for sure. What a shame.

  15. quick_stick says:

Although I’d prefer to see JFJ sign Lindros, if he manages to sign Peca & Carter, I can see the logic.

The Leafs need scoring and grit, which Lindros can provide, but hasn’t on a consitent basis. I believe he still can, and could have an excellent year, but it’s a gamble.

Peca and Carter are both good skaters, with Peca bringing some very high grit value to any team he signs with. Carter is a little soft, but brings some skill and scoring to the team.

For the Leafs to sign them both, however, they would need to clear some space.

  16. thatleafsguy says:

If you think the Leafs lineup is in bad shape just look at the Sens as they sit now:

and like only 8 million bucks to sign Chris Kelly, C, 25; Chris Neil, RW, 27; Peter Schaefer, LW, 28; Antoine Vermette, LW, 23 and still have to fill 2 holes.

  17. intothevoid001 says:

and the leafs overpaid!? its a damn good thing that they didn’t resign chara.

  18. LeafyMcLeaf says:

    Wellwoods a pansy!

  19. robinson19 says:

The North East is officially between Buffalo and Montreal I would say. Ottawa has questionable goaltending and only one line. The Leafs have no offence. Boston is still a no-chemistry team, even if they have Chara and Savard.

Buffalo has preserved the great chemistry from last year.

Montreal now have four very balanced lines and have preserved chemistry as well.

Edge to Buffalo though, I’d say.

  20. mikster says:

He’ll “replace” him with Peca. Not such a bad deal since possibly Peca has a better chance of playing more games than Lindros.

Don’t be so uptight about it. The Leafs still have a whole season to improve and Maurice will make a good impact.

  21. mikster says:

Gary Roberts is staying in Florida. The Panthers confirmed that to me.

  22. thatleafsguy says:

we have more of our team signed than the sens and they had to lose 5 parts. chara, Smoke, Havlat, Pothier, hasek…..

  23. thatleafsguy says:

you wish if you think montreal is going anywhere near the top………..give your head a shake.

  24. thatleafsguy says:

    who are you?

  25. LeafyMcLeaf says:

    Maurice sucks.

The Leafs will be fighting for one thing at the end of the season….

    Angelo Esposito.

  26. robinson19 says:

    Solid, well thought-out argument, man.

  27. Guinsfan87 says:

If he signed Hal Gill he is bound to sign Allison

  28. CaptainModano says:

    Most hated?

I’m sure those who know about Harold Ballard would disagree.

  29. CaptainModano says:

….So is that supposed to look bad, or something?

The Sens will be just fine, their top 6 is miles ahead of Toronto, and they have superior blueliners as well. As for goalies, we’ll have to wait and see.

  30. CaptainModano says:

Why is Montreal ahead of Ottawa, exactly?
