Stastny still in play for Avalanche

As the Avalanche continues to battle for a playoff spot, tomorrow’s trade deadline could lead to a move that’s been long-reported involving center Paul Stastny. Stastny, 26, has been dangled as trade bait since last season, though his $6.6 million salary cap hit has been a major concern for numerous teams. The two-time All Star has picked up 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points in 60 games with the Avs so far this season.

Several teams have inquired about his services, though it appears the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers have shown the most interest.

Avs GM Greg Sherman and Leafs GM Brian Burke have been speaking fairly regularly recently, as Colorado has scouted several of Toronto’s games this month.
