I don't think people care if they are rooting for a European or North American skater, as long as they are contributing to the teams success. In addition, the fact that the Rangers were relatively healthy all season has nothing to do with the trainers. Have the trainers changed so much over the past 3 seasons, where the Rangers did have some injury issues (like Jagr and Lundqvist). Plus, the Rangers don't really have the cap space to get Gaborik, unless they don't resign players like Dubinsky and Zherdev, letting them become UFA for nothing.
TB wouldn't want Gomez or Redden. First off Redden is terrible, and Gomez has talent but is so rediculously overpaid that his contract makes it near impossible for him to be traded away.
Finally in the trade you propose, I would accept it very quickly. Tavares is the next big thing, just like Eric Lindros was the next big thing. You are giving up a some good quality players (Dubinsky and Zherdev) in exchange for an unknown.
