I would like to see the Leafs grab Cormier from Winnipeg if he’s around. Cheap 4th line, extra roster player type guy. Still young at 23, big body, skates well but plays a little too much on the edge. Just the type of guy Carlyle likes and has had success working with. With Holzer, Brennan, Smith and Liles sent down, I think we have room cap wise for Cormier and Reilly…He could make trading a McLaren easier with Broll able to be called up as well.

  2. Did Holzer have to clear? I’d imagine some teams would be interested in him. It’s always a smart move doing it the day before the roster has to be in, as most teams have their roster figured out and don’t have the necessary room to grab somebody and then play a waiver game.

As far as I know he has to clear waivers, but at almost $800,000, I’m not sure anyone takes him.

Hardly anyone ever gets picked up at this time of year.

True enough. I still can`t understand a team like NYI with all their cap space and being a playoff contender, not grabbing a cheap D like Holzer or Brennan or dipping into the waiver wire somewhere.
