Sundin to Vancouver?

According to a Swedish Newspaper (article in Swedish as well) it appears that Mats Sundin may be heading to Vancouver after all.

In a loose translation the article indicates that there were many teams in pursuit of Sundin however the Vancouver Canucks are the team that he will sign with. The article also mentions that Sundin will continue his playing career and will accept the major contract offer that the Canucks have put forward.

Take this article for what it is worth … we will have to wait and see.

For a team that wasn't supposed to even make the play offs and one of the youngest teams in the league, they did pretty well! First place didn't hurt either. Vancouver in the play offs…oh, sorry, they weren't there for the 2nd time in 3 years, my mistake.

Now they have a GM that alienates the Sedin twins by saying that they aren't first line players, let's Naslund go for nothing, and offers way too much money to Sundin, who is an awesome player, even at his age, but shouldn't be making more than Crosby, Ovechkin, Iginla, and many others. He would give any team looking for an impact player, a lift, but not at $10 million/year. Gillis would have served the team and it's fans better by using that money to get 2 or 3 players that would be around 2 to 3 years that could fill holes until the prospects are ready!

the Pens are not going to be a top team in the east they lost too much guys like Malone, Laraque, roberts and rutuu were key players in the pens run last year they have not realy replaced them in fact the pens will be fighting for a playoff spot …as far as montreal not being a cup contender this is why gainey wants to add a player like sundin and added tangay to make them a contender and on paper montreal is better than last year replacing ryder with tanguay and adding laraque for toughness and with or without sundin canucks are not a cup contender even with lungo the would make the playoffs but not make the cup final….in montreal or new york he has a better chance to make the cup final cuz there is not as many strong teams in the east as in the west
