Oilers after Weiss?
“Ridiculous.’’ So says Panthers GM Dale Tallon when it comes to rumors that he’s looking to deal talented No. 1 pivot Stephen Weiss. Nonetheless, the chatter won’t go away, and Weiss, the No. 4 pick in the 2001 draft, could be the next big cat out of Sunrise, following ex-linemate Nathan Horton. If Tallon is looking to make a move, the Oilers will get aggressive in a bid because they are injury-depleted at pivot with both Shawn Horcoff (knuckle) and Eric Belanger (foot) expected to miss at least another month. No. 1 Oiler pivot Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also has been hindered by a wonky shoulder.
Anaheim Ducks must decide what to do with pending free agents Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf
Call it Bob Murray’s big decision.
With the NHL trade deadline set for April 3, nobody is under more intense scrutiny than the Anaheim Ducks GM with all-star forwards Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf both set to become unrestricted free agents on July 1.
While Murray has maintained publicly he wants to keep both players in the fold, he’s going to have cough up a lot of cash from the Ducks’ bank if Perry and Getzlaf are both going to stick around Anaheim past this season.

NHL Notebook: Will Flyers pursue Iginla?
They need veteran scoring help and general manager Paul Holmgren has been sniffing around for more than a week now, sources said.
What about Jarome Iginla? He’s 35, but he’s still a bonafide NHL scorer, a guy who has scored 31 or more goals for 11 years in the league.
And here’s the thing: he won’t cost you Sean Couturier or Brayden Schenn or Claude Giroux.
Are the Panthers looking to trade Weiss?
Elliotte Friedman says there’s rumors #Panthers might move Stephen Weiss for right price. GM Tallon calls those rumors ridiculous.

Could Leafs Land Ryan Getzlaf?
He could be available. But, there will be a fair amount of interest in him and he won’t come cheap.”
That was the opinion of a prominent Western Conference executive when I wondered, this week, whether Anaheim Ducks would trade potential free agent Ryan Getzlaf. Depending on the night, and the person with whom you speak, Leafs’ biggest priority is an established goalie or depth and size at centre. They may need both, though it appears James Reimer is regaining the confidence and poise he had as a rookie two seasons ago. More time is needed to confirm that, but Leafs demand for a big body up the middle is irrefutable.
Flyers and Canadiens talking about a Subban trade
RDS.ca is reporting that the Flyers and Canadiens have been taking about a potential deal for Subban. It is noted that the Flyers are eagerly looking to find another top defender aftger they failed to land Weber in the summer.

Eager Krejci shrugs off trade rumors
David Krejci was back on the ice Friday with his Bruins teammates for the first time since heading over to his native Czech Republic to play for HC Pardubice during the lockout, and the 26-year-old pivot said he was aware of the persistent rumors about a possible trade to Phoenix or Anaheim. But he made it clear, as he did last season when the rumors started, that he wants to remain a Bruin.
“I’ve seen it and I have time to go on the Internet, so I know what’s going on,” Krejci said. “I went through lots of things and saw my name there, but there’s nothing I can control. I am happy here, and I hope I haven’t given them any reasons to trade me. So I can’t control it, and I just want to go out there and play my best.”
It’s my expectation some GMs are sitting on trades/signings that are done or close to done and as soon as gun goes off, there’ll be activity
