Tanabe To The Big Apple?

Eklund is reporting that the Rangers may be interested acquiring another D-Man this offseason. However, it looks like it isn’t going to be Brian Leetch, the Rangers are apparently showing interest in recently released David Tanabe.

This may add some depth to the rangers blue-line but, if I were Sather I would be looking to add another scoring forward. The Rangers lack any significant offence on their third and fourth lines after the departures of Sykora, and Rucinsky.

they don’t need him… itd be a waste, maybe one more scoring forward but i think the rangers should stop making moves after that the team looks pretty good for next year, and i wanna see some of the young guys like dawes, immonen, pock, maybe even staal see ice time this year

Where would Tanabe fit in? I’m having a tough time fitting in Ozonolish, Pock, Hossa and many others onto the roster as it is and although I like it that way, I don’t know whether adding more depth to the mixture is appropriate right now. The Rangers are one of the top 5 teams in depth right now. You could actually argue that they are #1, but I wouldn’t because of a lack of a star centre and the fact that Anaheim is a bit more stacked than us.

Tanabe is welcome in the Wolf Pack though.
