Tanguay's agent: Panthers are in the mix

Steve Gorten

I finally was able to get a hold of free-agent winger Alex Tanguay’s agent today for a few minutes on the phone.

Tanguay’s agent, Robert Sauve, said the Panthers are one of five or six teams he’s talking with that Tanguay is considering signing with.“They’re one of the teams we’ve talked to, but that’s about all I can say,” Sauve said. He added that he’s received “a few offers,” but wouldn’t say whether the Panthers have made an offer.

“We’re still looking at everything, trying to find the best situation for him,” Sauve said. “We’re going to take a little more time. We have a feeling we’re close with some teams, but we don’t know how much time it’s going to take to finalize.”

Tanguay had 16 goals and 25 assists in 50 games with the Canadiens last season. He made $5.375 million, with a salary cap hit of $5.25 million, but is expected to take a considerable pay cut.

MJ was targeted as part of a conspiracy.

Gainey just threw a bomb into the Bell Center and blew the entire team up…must have been just a total nightmare locker-room in Montreal for a guy like Gainey to clean house like he did.

Apparently they are looking at Scnhieder to be the Captain, it's like Gainey is just making this up on a day to day basis and didnt really have a plan, juts gets the list every morning of who is available and calls guys up to see if they want to be Captain of the Montreal Canadians…

I think Gainey is burnt out on the job, he is not making very sharp decisions, he's become the GM he never ever thought he would be – the one that just builds a playoff team to keep his job and not a championship team.
