Tavares Goes Down

Sportsnet.ca Reports—

London Knights forward John Tavares suffered a sprained acromioclavicular (AC) joint in Friday night’s 4-3 loss to the Windsor Spitfires and will not play for the rest of the weekend, according to team officials.

Tavares left the game in the first period after being hit behind the net by Taylor Hall, who is second to Tavares in league scoring.

The AC joint is located in the shoulder and it provides the ability to raise the arm above the head.

According to team officials, Tavares was taken to a hospital for precautionary X-rays, which came back negative.

Tavares, whom many believe will be the first overall selection at this summer’s NHL entry draft, will be re-evaluated next week.

With this sprained joint he could be expected to be out for up to a month. I worry that the Knights will try to rush him and he will have this injury reoccur, hopefully they understand that there is a lot more at stake. I wonder what this may do for his value going into the draft. As of late he has been dealing with several minor injuries and his prone to injury of late could slide him from that number 1 spot at the draft.
