The worst thing that can happen to the Habs right now is start winning, I'm sick of watching them drafting between 14th and 20th!

I would trade Gionta, Moen, Gill, Campolli, Weber ,Kaberle, Cammalleri and would buy out gomez or send him down the minors.

and I would do it soon so the Habs could only drop in ranking, This way Price and Subban would lose value and would be easier to resign, I would also resign AK46 long term, I love this guy, he doesn't get much ice-time and rarely see him on the PP and he still put the best numbers on that team.

I would bring up young players from hamilton and finish this year with whatever is left of that team, from trading the players mentioned above this would get the habs a few decent pick(s), I would wait to see what Beaulieu, Tino, Kristo, Gallagher and Benett could do next training camping only THEN i would attempt to make trade(s) to aquire experienced players.

If the habs rush and let Gauthier make more decisions this year it could hurt them in the long run, plus you dont want to bring a new GM, Coach(es) or players in this environment, I say let the people in charge sink the ship, finish the season then fire everybody and start fresh.

The problem with the habs is they always sign whats leftover not what they need. Before they got Gomez, Gionta and Cammy everyone were sayin how much the Habs needed size but once again Gainey settled for undersized players.
This time the Habs should free up some cap and use it wisely!

I still and will always wondered why Gomez cost what it did??? I will never understand and since that move i lost all respect for Gainey and Gauthier both, that move put the habs back a few years!

...and the fact that Gomez is still not in Hamilton as well as a stubborn refusal to deal with the mess that was left him. Besides he was the assistant GM I doubt he took the job of GM and proceeded to change little if he wasn't in agreement with the moves Gainey made.

Is it fair that Gauthier is taking all the heat...no. But if he didn't see the mess he was in when he took the job it just reinforces my belief that he's an idiot and not the man to let try and fix/rebuild anything.

What's that translate into 4 or 5 first rounders. I'd walk away from him for that regardless of the GM making the offer. It's simply too much money to pay a goalie and you know a contract like that will bite the team involved in the ass.

It's a bit of a double edged sword making an offer. Ideally you'd want to offer him slightly more than what the Habs would/could offer him. As the signing GM you want to make an offer that discourages the Habs from matching without making it so retarded as to encourage them not to match it. I bet making an offer on a RFA is a bit more difficult than most people think.

DON'T FORGET Gainey was the GM of the Habs and really created this entire mess.

The only thing Gauthier should take credit for is Cole, Kaberle, and Markov.
