The rangers remain unbeaten

Nearly halfway through the 2006-07 preseason schedule, the Rangers remain unbeaten after beating Florida 3-2 on Saturday night in the first NHL game ever played in Puerto Rico.Petr Prucha scored in both the first and second periods, and Nigel Dawes notched the winner early in the third, as the Blueshirts refused to buckle after Florida had appeared to grab the momentum on a goal by Ari Vallin that tied the game at 2-2.

Dawes’ game-winner came just seconds after Vallin’s tally. The Rangers won the center-ice faceoff, and Dawes gained control of the puck on the left side of the neutral zone. He skated in over the blueline and blasted a slap shot from the left point that fooled Florida goaltender Alexander Auld and stood up as the winning goal.
