The Trap is Back

At the end of the 2004 season their was a lockout. The reason for the lockout was the game was slow and low scoring. One of the things that they got rid of was the trap. That was to any form of authority of the NHL the trap is slowly sneaking back into the game…..

For instance I was watching Highlights from a few nights back and the scores were like 2-1 or even 1-0. Another example is when the leafs faced the bruins twice in a row and the Bruins played the most boring style of hockey Ive seen since the pre-lockout days.

This would not be an article if I didn’t make up possible solutions. I would love to see the either the nets grow or the goalies equipment shrink even more. Another thing they can to is for the power play make it so in order to go offside it is the red line. That way the players have more room and the defencemen don’t have to worry so much about keeping the puck in. Of course all the heavy shots would still come from the blueline.

The refs aren’t helping making an exciting game either by calling ridiculous penalties when a stick taps a guys mid-section. The game isn’t looking good in terms of scoring. We will see what if the rules change or the NHL go back into the 1-0 2-1 games that bored us in previous years.
