The whole story

I said the best thing for the leafs is some consistency, and now they have that.

Now that the weekend has rolled over, lets look at the entire story. This story includes sources from the Fan 590, Sun Media, and The Star.

About 4-5 years ago, Richard Peddie(Team President) hired a GM by the name of John Ferguson. While in the old NHL, playing with primarily Quinn’s players, the Leafs were a successful team.

However, after one year in the new NHL, the team was in trouble. Ferguson fired Quinn, brought in Maurice, and bought out Tie Domi. Two moves that Larry Tanembaum(Part Owner) did not like.

Things looked up for the Leafs for the 06-07 season. However, after the year was done it was clear JFJ had made one bad move after another. Peddie decides that Ferguson deserves one more season at the helm, while others disagree.

24 games in, The Leafs are tied for both fewest wins, and most games played.

Here’s where it gets interesting:

Approx. 1 week before phoenix game:

Reports say JFJ tried to have Paul Maurice Fired, however Peddie did not allow it.

A Day after the game:

Howard Berger reports Tanembaum and Peddie fighting about Leafs Future. Tanembaum wanting Immediate Change.

Ferguson says he wont Make any Changes.

Peddie says Hiring JFJ was a Mistake.

Maurice wants the weight on his Shoulders

Its an interesting perplexion. So some Owners (Namely Tanembaum) are saying hiring Peddie was bad, Peddie says hiring JFJ was bad, and JFJ saying hiring maurice was bad.

So, it would be easy for Maurice to blame the players, who clearly aren’t listening to him. But he goes out and defends his players.

Well, at least one person in this organization has class.

Very interesting piece.  I couldn't stop reading.

Personally, I don't see Tanembaum as classless.  He's just calling a spade a spade.  The fact is that Peddie screwed up.  Big time!  So I applaud T for pointing his finger at someone because it's certainly justified.  It's far better than sugar-coating things, which seems to be the norm in today's b.s. society that we live in.

As a leaf fan, all I can say is: Go Habs!

Another bad loss could be enough to send JFJ packing, which would be nothing but beautiful.

Good stuff B&W. Steve Simmons had an article in the Sun today echoeing a lot of the same things, in his opinion there won't be any hope until both Tenenbaum and Peddie are gone. In my opinion, Tanenbaum (sp) seems to have more of a clue than does Peddie.

I think we can all agree with Tanenbaum's views that we need to change things NOW. JFJ has got to go, now.

firing JFJ will be beautiful… for us not for any other team
