TIME FOR SWEEPING CHANGES

I can’t do it… I can’t take it anymore… It’s actually making me ill to watch the Habs play the past few months. Especially now, with only 11 games left, Montreal comes out flat against the Leafs at the Bell Centre on Saturday night?! To say the Canadiens are playing pathetic hockey would be a compliment these days…

The sad part is somehow, someway, Montreal is still in 8th and in the playoffs. This is like dieing a slow, painful, agonizing death… Just get it over with already and pull the plug! The Habs will not make the playoffs this year (at least they don’t deserve to). And if by some miracle they actually manage to qualify in 8th (best case scenario), it’s highly unlikely they even win a game.

In my opinion, you bench the following players for the rest of the year: Kostitsyn, Laraque, O’Byrne, Komisarek… And give the ice to players whom want to play for the CH and show some grit/pride/life: Stewart, D’Agostini, Dandeneault, Brisebois. Believe me, they can’t do any worse. I won’t even bother with linemaking since nothing seems to work this year.

It’s painfully obvious that Gainey, whom I respect, has overstayed his welcome as GM and it’s time for a change.
Out: Gainey, Jarvis, Muller, Melanson
In: Lacroix (GM), Hartley (head coach), Ray Bourque (assistant coach) Roy (goalie coach)… What do all these guys have in common? They are all winners (won the cup in Colorado) and are all home grown!

Out of the 11 free agents, I would sign: Komisarek, Kostopoulos, Tanguay. The rest could walk! It’s time to sign some free agents and make some trades. All the Habs really need to do is sign a top notch d-man (Bouwmester) and trade for Lecavalier and voila, we have a new team:
Tanguay-Lecavalier-Pacioretty
Latendresse-Lapierre-D’Agostini
Higgins-Plekanec-Stewart
Laraque-“free agent”-Kostopoulos

Bouwmester-Markov
Komisarek-McDoughah
Georges- Henry

Price-Denis

The trade for Lecavalier would look something like this: AK46, AK74, Halak, Hamrlik, Subban, 1st round draft pick.

The new-look Habs will be bigger, tougher, and hopefully play more inspired hockey under the new management team.

As a Habs fan, I’m fed up of watching uninspired, heartless/gutless athletes taking the ice wearing le bleu-blanc-rouge, as if it was just another jersey, floating around the ice thinking about which club their first round of golf will be played at this year… Enough is enough and it’s time for a change!!!
