Too Many Wacky Rumors

Since the begining of December there have been a ton of Hab rumors floating around. Rumors are rumors after all but some tend to be true. Here are some of the rumors going around that I find wacky/crazy.

Montreal / San Jose :

Reported on http://www.spectorshockey.net/rumors.html,

It said that Montreal were talking with San Jose about a trade involving:

Saku Koivu
Mike Ryder

For:

Patrick Marleau
Steve Bernier

Bob Mackenzie was the “source” of this rumor. He then posted a blog on TSN.ca that it was completely false and stated that Montreal and San Jose are just looking for deals to bolster their clubs but nothing involving the two captains of the clubs. The rumor is still going around…

Montreal / Tampa Bay :

Reported on http://www.thefourthperiod.com/ and many others,

The site stated that Montreal was one of the teams in serious talks with Tampa Bay about Brad Richards, NOT Vincent Lecavalier but Brad Richards(trying to get that clear).

The club publicly announced that they were going to cut salaries due to ownership. That pretty much cued the Lecavalier rumors about him being traded and Montreal would be a “perfect” fit for him. I don’t think they would trade away their best player and the only reason fans buy tickets. Brad Richards was the candidate because of his salary.

Earlier this week it has been reported that the deal may go through and they won’t have to cut any salaries. The Hollywood producer that wants to buy the club only wants to buy it if the “Big Three” stay together.

Now this rumors isn’t wacky/crazy and it actually looks realistic for both clubs:

Montreal / Edmonton :

Reported on http://www.spectorshockey.net/rumors.html,

Kevin Lowe has been spotted at many Montreal games and is apparently interested in Mike Ryder. The deal that is being discussed is:

Mike Ryder

For:

Raffi Torres

Both players aren’t getting the ice time they want and the deal looks fair to both clubs. Edmonton is maybe gambling on Ryder but he picks up his game they will get some additional offence and Montreal would be getting that “sandpaper/grinder” player they need.

But then again it is another rumor. The thought that Koivu might be traded is a little crazy but a lot of fans are getting impatient and feel its time but if Montreal would be getting Patrick Marleau in return I would rather have Koivu in Montreal. Brad Richards being traded to Montreal would definitely help Montreal because they would have a legitimate #1 center, but its a rumor.

Rumors are fun to talk & write about but until us fans see it I don’t think we should believe it and get our hopes up.

Thanks for reading.
