It’s open season for NHL player acquisitions, and the Anaheim Ducks bagged the first major prize when they acquired tough and skilled defenseman Francois Beauchemin from the Toronto Maple Leafs Wednesday for Joffrey Lupul, prospect Jake Gardiner and a conditional fourth-round pick.

The Chicago Blackhawks later acquired Michael Frolik from the Florida Panthers for Jack Skille in a deal that also included three prospects.
