Top 50 Players in the NHL

Every late August/Early September the Hockey News publishes their ‘top 50 players’ in the league, based on their performances of this season and in their careers. For fun here is my list:It was hard to do, but this is what I ended up with:

1. Forsberg (Col)

3. St.Louis (TB)

4. Sundin (Tor)

42. Yzerman (Det)

43. Modanno (Dal)

44. Tanguay (Col)

45. Gonchar (Bos)

46. Briere (Buf)

47. Gomez (NJ)

48. Stillman (TB)

49. Nieuwendyk(Tor)

50. Guerin (Dal)

There’s a lot of good players not on my list, including:

Satan, Nolan, Nabakov, Smyth, Stuart, Straka, Morrison, Doan, Peca, Mogilny, Kappenen, Dipietro, Nash, Conroy, Bondra, Shneider, Samsonov, Amonte, Lecavavalier, Madden, Vokoun, Koivu, Richards, Drury, Zhamnov, Modin, etc.

I probably could have made a top 100, but once you start comparing Nylander and Arnott, what’s the point? And a top 70, or 80 list just doesn’t sound official enough. It was hard to keep the guys I mentioned off, but it was hard to find them spots also. I’m satisfied with the list, although I’m sure 99% of you can find something wrong with it here or there, it’s a lot of opinion. Hope you enjoyed.
