Si I've heard anyways. I'm not saying that as an expert but more just repeating what I've heard. It's apparently a great atmosphere to be in. And they have a pretty rich hockey history , being one of the original expansion teams.

Plus they've had Greatzky, Hull, Pronger, Oates, Stevens, MacInnis, Demitra, Tkachuk all play for them.

So I think they are a pretty solid hockey town from what I can gather.

I've also heard management was top notch but thats all I could really make of it.

St Louis is a hockey hot bed. They love their hockey as much as any city in the States. It's a great city to live in as well (or so I've heard).

And from what I've seen, the management is pretty decent.

Ive honestly always wondered why players who have played for the St.Louis Blues hold that organization so high?? Before this season they were average at best as far as a hockey teams goes...

They play in the midwest where if it aint football, basketball or NCAA it isnt watched...They also have ownership issues which is never a selling point yet players kept signing back.

I remember a couple trades involving Keith Tkatchuk to have him only go back in the off-season. Same with guys like Langenbrunner and Arnott wanting to sign there as well...

Does anyone know what makes this rather below average market/location seem so attractive?

you know what, if I were St.Louis and I could get ownership to agree to it, I would make a big offer to Columbus including only prospects and picks.

Something like

To STL:

Nash

To CLB:

Cole
Allen
Grachev
2012 1st
2013 1st

I doubt it is anywhere near enough without adding a player like Oshie, Perron, or Stewart but since St.Louis has the cap space right now they should send Columbus that offer.

Next year St. Louis will have to cut players to pay for Nash but since they have Langenbrunner & Arnott on the last year of their deals making 2.5M each (cash) and Jackman (3.5M) and Carlo (2.5M) being a UFA you can let the forward vets go and let go one of the D to make up for Nash's contract next year. Grabbing Nash should give St.Louis a deeper cup run which would easily replace the 2-3M in cash they have to pay Nash that year.

They should give it a shot anyway.

I think they would have the pieces but its a question of need. Does taking on that much salary and Nash really make much sense?

A package of Cole, Stewart, Jake Allen and a 1st would certainly be enticing to the Jackets. And it wouldn't hurt the Blues that much. The first and Allen are expendable, Stewart would be getting upgraded to Nash, and Cole would be the only real loss but you can manage with the defense you have. Maybe toss in Mcrae if that isn't enough.

It could make sense I think, but the salary would be the biggest issue.

No way the blues go after Nash. Doug Armstrong has already made it pretty clear that due to ownership issues no huge moves would be made. Even if ownership was not an issue, I do not think it would be wise for the blues to give up what it would take to land Nash. Of the pieces I could see the blues possibly moving at the deadline, none of them (even packaged) would be enough to land Nash.
