Trade Deadline updates and Rumors (Hurricanes, Leafs and Coyotes)

The latest rumors on the Hurricanes, an update on Dominic Moore and the latest on Derek Morris.

The News Observer is ruling out speculation that the Hurricanes are one of the tams that are in play for Bill Guerin and it is also noted that “Then there’s the NHL trading deadline — Wednesday at 3 p.m. Rutherford said the Canes were not actively negotiating deals, but he didn’t rule one out, either.”

It is also noted that while the asking price for players is very high right now the Hurricanes are not likely to trade picks or prospects to make a deadline deal.

Dominic Moore Talk is reporting that the Maple Leafs are presently negotiating with Moore on a new deal however it is reported that “The Leafs made a counter offer on Monday, but sources say that offer was well below what Moore considers to be his bottom line – believed to be between $2.5 million and $3 million per season.”

HTR believes that 2.5 or 3 million may be just too much money for the Leafs to hang on to Moore.

The Latest on Derek Morris is also reporting that Derek Morris will sit to prevent the risk of injury until he is traded. It is noted that Morris has given the Coyotes a list of teams that he is willing to be traded to so that he would lift his no trade clause.
