Trade Deadline: Who's Available?

PLEASE NOT THIS IS ALL SPECULATION

CENTERS

Mike Comrie
Current Team: Phoenix Coyotes
Description: With his contract set to expire at the end of this season he would be a great rent-a-player for a team looking to make a cup run. He can play the role of a second or third line center on a team for depth. He can score and with Shane Doan’s contract expiring, they may not be able to keep him.

Jeremy Roenick
Current Team: Phoenix Coyotes
Description: An over the hill aging center, he can still provide a team with some scoring and is more of a depth center, would be a great leader on a young club looking to make a cup run.

Doug Weight
Current Team: St. Louis Blues
Description: He has the ability to score alot of points if you put players around him. He can provide leadership to a team and could play the role of a second line center if needed. Available at only a fraction of his 3.5 million dollar salary he is a bargain, but his contract expires after next season so the team would have to take on his 3.5 million dollar salary for next year.

Peter Forsberg
Current Team: Philadelphia Flyers
Description: He can be an amazing scorer if healthy, there is the problem. He cannot stay healthy and is very injury prone. Luckily he is a rent-a-player. Any
team the aquires him is taking a huge risk, but he is worth it

Craig Conroy
Current Team: Los Angeles Kings
Description: After his departure from Calgary he hasn’t been able to find his old scoring touch, if you surround him with good players he has the ability to score, can provide depth to any team.

Brendan Morrison
Current Team: Vancouver Canucks
Description: With the Sedin twins emerging as high scores, this once 1st line center has been demoted to the second line in Vancouver. Dave Nonis has been shopping him but the asking price seems a little steep for other teams. If the right offer came along, Nonis will trade him. Can provide scoring with players around him.

RIGHT WINGERS

Shane Doan
Current Team: Phoenix Coyotes
Description: With his contract expiring at the end of this year he may not want to stay in Phoenix, he may want to go to a contender. Phoenix might not want to risk losing him for nothing so he may be traded if the right offer came along. He can provide scoring for any team and can provide a huge amount of depth, great rent-a-player for a team looking to go for the Stanley Cup.

Bill Guerin
Current Team: St. Louis Blues
Description: After having a horrible season with the Stars last year, Guerin has once again found his scoring touch in St. Louis. With little chance of them making the playoffs this year he would be a great rent-a-player. He has the ability to be a 25-30 goal scorer for any team and can provide depth to a team looking to have a cup run.

LEFT WINGERS

Keith Tkachuck
Current Team: St. Louis Blues
Description: At 34 years young this player can provide the scoring touch and grit for any team. He is a great leader and has the ability to be one of the top players in the league. Would be a great addition to any team.

John LeClair
Current Team: Pittsburgh Penguins
Description: This player has been put through entry and re-entry waivers and hasn’t been picked up by a team. He still has the ability to score and can add epth on the wing. Pittsburgh has been trying desperatley to trade him.

DEFENSEMAN

Eric Brewer
Current Team: St. Louis Blues
Description: This former Olympian is still young and can produce points while playing solid defense. He has amazing potential and would be a great pick-up for a team looking for defensive help.

Jay McKee
Current Team: St. Louis Blues
Description: A solid 1st or 2nd defenseman has had an injury plagued year. He can provide a team with solid defense but still has 2 years remaining on his contract after this year.

Nick Boynton
Current Team: Phoenix Coyotes
Description: He is a solid stay at home defenseman. He came along in the Mara deal and would make a great depth defenseman for a team looking to make a cup run.

GOALIES

Jose Theodore
Current Team: Colorado Avalanche
Description: He used to be one of the elite goalies in the NHL but has seemed to have lost his confidence. He would be a great back-up for any team or he could possibly assume the number one role if he regains his confidence. There is only one problem. He is making about 5.5 million dollars and he is not worth that much. If Colorado can package right players with him he can be traded.

Marc Denis
Current Team: Tampa Bay Lightning
Description: A young goalie with alot of potential. Can play the role of a back-up or split the starting job with a goalie until he is ready to be a #1 goalie. He just hasn’t found his groove in Tampa Bay. A great pick-up for any team.

Manny Legace
Current Team: St. Louis Blues
Description: Legace is not and will never be a bonified number one goaltender in the NHL. He can be a really good back-up goalie or can split the the duty with a goalie. At 1.4 million dollars he is a bargain for any team looking for goaltending help.

Robert Esche
Current Team: Philadelphia Flyers
Description: He had a break out year pre-lockout but since the NHL came back he hasn’t been able to play well enough to be the star goaltender he once was. At 1 million dollars he can be a great backup and can help out any team in need of a goalie.

Martin Gerber
Current Team: Ottawa Senators
Description: He had his break-out year last year but since his poor performance in the playoffs he has come down with Tommy Salo syndrome. He is not worth the 3.7 million he is making and Ottawa is trying desperatly to deal him. Like the situation with Theodore in Colorado he can still be a great back-up or split the duties of goaltending on a team, but he is not worth what he is making.
