Tuukka Rask to make NHL Debut?

Boston local sports station NESN and Bruins.com are reporting that the Bruins have recalled Rask from Providence and sent goalie Jordan Sigalet back to Providence.

Lets see if he starts one of the back to back game the Bruins play Wed&Thurs and we’ll see what the Leafs gave us.

If Rask turns out to be amazing, I will tie a rope around my neck, tie the rope to a tall building, jump off, while falling drink poison and shoot myself in the head…

If only we can press the "undo" button and reverse the Raycroft trade.

Clearly Fergi fell in love with Raycroft's Calder Trophy.  The fact that Rask is starting his first NHL game before Pogge only adds salt to the wound.

Why can't we bamboozle other GMs like that?

  3. leafy says:

That might be a bit harsh, no?

  4. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

bad move. Rask needs another year.

  5. hockeyhead says:

its not a bad move because they are just bringing up a better back up for timmy while manny heals.

tuukka might not even play before he is sent back down.

he is 6-1 in providence tho.

oh, and leaf fans,  thanks once again for rask 😉

    razor still not working out?

I'll be there for moral support and and extra push never hurt anyone right? Now if we can only get blue and white and leafy up there with ya.

  7. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

what a joke trade that was…

Rask never mastered the Finn elite league, nor has he mastered the aHL. The only goalie i consider ready is Carey Price. Bernier, and Rask are not. Montoya is ready too i guess.

You should change your name to Chicken Little because your sky is always falling. And isn't this typical of a good portion of Leaf fans? Rask got promoted and you're ready to kill yourself. Does Rask's promotion automatically lead to Vezina's, Stanley Cups, MVP awards, and All-Star teams nominations? What if Rask comes up, gets shelled and never plays another game in the NHL? How does the Raycroft trade look then? Why don't you just take a Valium and let's give Rask a few years to see what's he's going to do before we get all doomy and gloomy.

    However, i agree!

Good to see another Leafs prospect working his way into the NHL on another team…

    ?

  14. Archion113 says:

Yeah what a bad deal that was.. Raycroft only carried a pathetic defensive team for over for 70+ games… granted he only showed up to about 65 of them.. his 37 wins speaks for themselves.

The Maple Leafs rely on one thing to beat an opponent.  To out score them, and only out score them.  While thats the main objective of the game, there are other approaches to winning.  Like… not allowing the other team to score?  Playing defense?  Not in Toronto… its all offense all the time…

Raycroft had a stellar first half of the year last year, even as the D left him out to dry… the guy only had a few losses the first half of the season.. and CARRIED the team on his back for that stretch…

The team doesn't show up for periods at a time.. kinda like the Flyers… only the Flyers are getting better goaltending right now.

Imagine how relived he must of been when he was traded to a REAL NHL team. Good for him. Welcome to The Bigs.

  16. PaulK123 says:

i said IF he becomes amazing lmao

    baaaaahaaahahaaaa..

thats quite honestly all i can think of to say to that. i hope your not a leaf fan.. at least than you have an excuse for this jumble. theres no way you could breathe a sentence of that had you actually suffered through last season with the rest of us watching that clown roll around like he was having a seizure every night. capping it all off in the must win game with like a 5 goal on 14 shot performance with 3 of the 5 going in from the blueline?

your right.. he carried them right to the golf course.

Rask has shown that he has lightning fast reflexes and is flexible like Hasek. It's tough to say how great he'll be, because you think about Felix Potvin who's best years were his first years, or you think about a guy like Fleury who has those outstanding reflexes, and has shown flashes of brilliance but still isn't a great goalie at the NHL level. We'll see what happens with this guy, but I have a feeling he'll be outstanding if not now, then in a few years.

  19. mojo19 says:

    I agree with leafsrule31

  20. leafy says:

If he's great, that will be STRIKE TWO.  The Leafs also traded their 1st pick in '97 to get Wendel Clark back.  The Isles then selected Roberto Luongo.

In the 1970's, we also gave Bernie Parent to Philadelphia.  All he did is win a few Vezina and Conn Smyth trophies.

    I'm almost moved to tears.

  21. mojo19 says:

Luckily I wasn't around in the seventies to see that. Go Leafs Go!!!
