That was such a given, and there was just no way Holik would end up in Washington. Good acquisition by the Caps, Lang with Jagr completes the offense basically.

  2. Sands says:

Now the wolf pack will be all over Holik. Rangers need to sign him fat before a big deal heads his way.

    spelt something wrong

Is Lang really worth 5 mil. a season? I mean come on, this guy is a second line center.

  6. Chandlerisback says:

    Kind of predictable

With the money saved by Oates and Linden then needed a new center.

Jagr and Lang played together in Pittsburgh so its expected

pittsburgh is stupid for not dealing him at the deadline.

    Very stupid move.

Pens are on their way to rebuilding the team.

Some teams have second line centers making 5+ mill a year. I think the Penguins payed Lemieux that much so he could use them as a training camp for the Olympics.

Not to mention the Caps desperately needed a center and who else were they going to get? If Holik signs with the Flyers look for the Caps to inquire about Primeau or if Holik signs with the Stars look for the Caps to inquire about Arnott.

I agree they should have dealt him at the deadline. When your Superstar Player/Owner doesn’t care if the team makes the playoffs it’s times to pack it in and make deals for the next year.

Haha I’m very pleased with the move.. sure we overpaid a lot but look at who we have down the center. if we don’t sign Lang who are our other options.. Holik who will reach 9 maybe 10 million.. is he worth that GOD NO or Cassels who I feel is a average 2nd line center. Now all we have to do is sign Kasper and we can really sell some ticket to mellon arena.. I mean MCI center.. or wait World Com went under so I guess that means.. oh forget it.

How can you trade an injured player, when you know this is a 3-month trade????

  11. NYRfan78 says:

They may have not gotten much for him hurt, but still they now lost him for nothing. Whats going on?Some normally smart GM’s are making stupid moves lately from Lou not signing Holik to Patrick not dealing Lang and getting somthing/anything for him,and im not even going to get into the slats/rangers mess.

  12. aaron says:

    If Lang’s worth 5 million, Holik’s worth 15. But I digress.

  13. aaron says:

Good move for the Caps, though Lang’s more like 3 million…tops. Ah well, he’ll fit in w/ Jagr, I suppose.

  14. jtshade1977 says:

The only reason he was a “#2 center” was ’cause PIT has Lemieux. As much as I hate to admit it, Lang will make Pretty-Boy Jagr better next year. Does anyone else miss the days of Jagr getting whistled at every time he touched the puck in Philly?

  15. guinsfan4life says:

I guess it depends on who you ask. Personally, I wouldn’t pay that much for him. The only team he has produced for was the Penguins.

WIth that said, I am very sad to see him go, but very pissed off that Patrick didn’t trade him at the deadline and at least get something. That REALLY pisses me off, and makes me wonder what the hell Patrick is smoking.

  16. guinsfan4life says:

I read the ESPN article that said Lang and Jagr have been reunited. Let’s make something clear, Lang and Jagr didn’t play on the same line together, they were on two different lines.

YES it was very, very stupid for not dealing him. We have begun rebuilding, which just completely baffles me. You are trying to get a new arena and you loosing the nucleus of a team that took you to the Eastern Conference Finals.

  17. guinsfan4life says:

The capitals are immeadiately better with the acquisition of Langer. He is one of the best two way centers in hockey. Is he worth 5 million? Hell no! But he will improve their hockey team.

With that said, it really pisses me off that Patrick didn’t trade lang and at least get something. He has said that the offers he received weren’t sufficient enough, well what about what you recieved now you ***** jagoff!!!!!!!! You don’t have nothing!!

So any alternatives..may be Andrew Cassels. He made only 1.5 mil. last year. With the money we saved from letting lang walk we might afford him or Martin Gelinas.

  18. sexwax says:

cassels made 3.25 mil. last season.

  19. Jonathane says:

Hey maybe someone can post an article about the gm’s and have them tell us how smart a GM Craig Patrick is.

  20. titans says:

5 million a year for 5 years for Robert Lang???? What the hell’s goin on in the NHL anyway??? Gimmie a friggin break!! Thats ridiculous!!! Lang’s a good player, dont get me wrong, but not 25 million over 5 years good!!

  21. booty says:

Yeah, and they’d show him on the big screen with the song “Dude Looks Like a Lady” playing…

p.s. I got a picture of Jagr dressed up as a woman!!!
