Wayne Primeau to Sharks for Bradley

Wayne Primeau of the Pittsburgh Penguins traded to the San Jose Sharks for Matt Bradley.

No biggie, but it could be a start for a bigger deal from the Sharks.

More salary to rid rid of in Pittsburgh. I think they said it was a difference of $.5 million between the two salaries. I think Pittsburgh will be downgraded to the AHL before the day is over.

  2. RatSale says:

Anyone knows something about Matt Bradley?

  3. TaajAr says:

I just heard Pittsburgh traded Straka, Hrdina, Hedberg and a fur coat to St. Louis for a 6th rounder and $2,000!

  4. jjm301 says:

no they took the fur coat out of the deal because it cost them too much

  5. RatSale says:

  6. Heinzee57 says:

I like any deal involving that fur coat.

    That thing is awsome.

Blip on the radar. Salary dump for Pitt.

  8. TaajAr says:

I’m suprised the fur coat went actually, it was Pittsburgh’s top prospect.

    Scouting Report

Preseason projected role Bradley will again play his solid game from the Sharks fourth line in 2002-03. He may even move up to Line 3 during the course of the season.

Assets Is a great skater and possesses good size. He’s a very responsible player that thinks about his own end before attacking the offensive zone.

Flaws Will never score in abundance at the NHL level. Needs to continue to work on doing the little things in order to become a fixture in the lineup.

Career potential With a great attitude, sound defensive skills and good size, Bradley should enjoy a lengthy NHL career. He will likely play the role of third-line checker down the road.

Is fur coat a metaphor for Alexander Daigle?

This wasn’t no salary dump. Primeau stinks, flat out. I’d give him away for nothing, which is pretty much what we got back.

  12. matteo says:

When you trade nothing for nothing and slice off 500k in salary it is called a salary dump.

  13. guinsfan4life says:

They didn’t slice off 500k. It was more in the neighborhood of 300k. If that is the case then, every trade made today will look like a salary dump if one player makes more. Primeau has a +, – in the range of -30, hasn’t scored in 24 games and has regularly been horrible against the other teams top line.

When you save 300k or 400k it aint’ called a salary dump-trading Kovie- when the team gained some 11 mil over the next couple years, now that is a salary dump.

Pittsburgh is a challenger for the Cup. Calder

Actually, Primeau was in the second year of a three-year contract and was earning just under 1 million. Also, I’m gonna miss Wayne. He was my favorite player in Pittsburgh, besides Mario. He was one of the only players to show some heart and intensity on the ice. He was meant to be a scorer when he was drafted 16th in 1994 by Buffalo and has played third line his whole career basically … what a waste.
