Weekes to be dealt soon?

Lately many hockey “experts” have been commenting on the high possibility of Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Kevin Weekes and forward Jeff O’Neil being traded.A team that seems to “pop-up” alot when mentioning O’Neil are the Toronto Maple Leafs. Different people obviously have different opinions about the two becoming Toronto Maple Leafs.

Carolina GM Jim Rutherford has recently hinted that Kevin Weekes will be traded soon and even before Jeff O’Neil (if not at the same time).“At this point if we’re inclined to do anything with roster players it would probably be in goal,” said Rutherford. “We think highly of Cam Ward (2002 first-round pick) and some of our people think he could start next season as our backup goalie.” the Hurricanes have recently acquired Martin Gerber so the possibility of him being moved is very very small. Of course with having Martin Gerber and Cam Ward in goal who is your starter. Martin Gerber will be the starter and not a weak one. When the Anaheim Mighty Ducks had their terrific playoff run in 2003 (sorry if i get the team wrong so i’ll just go on instinct) the Minnesota Wild were surprised to see Giguere in net because after playing the Ducks in the regular season they expected Gerber.

Therefore Kevin Weekes will most likely be traded at the trade deadline. I suppose we will all just have to watch and find out.
