Well, slap my wrist and call me duly chastised

Associated Press and Lexis / Nexis report:

The NHL has fined Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis $100,000.00 (U.S. currency) for his actions involving disgruntled fan Jason Hammer (go Hammer; go Hammer – U Can’t Touch This!) last Sunday night following yet another Caps home loss.

Of course, this is the monetary equivalent of you or I giving a quarter to those guys with the “homeless” signs on the freeway off-ramps.

Added bonus: my off-topic HTR pet peeves:

1.) People who don’t bother to check their spelling, grammar, and syntax.

2.) People who vote for their own articles – really, nobody cares if you’re a “5” or a “0”.

3.) People who report what other sources have said verbatim instead of summarizing. If you spelled the rest of the article wrong, and three parapraphs in the middle sound nothing like you, it’s a dead giveaway.

4.) Morons who contribute nothing but lame “cuss words” and keep changing screen names in a vain attempt to find the recognition they will never achieve in the real world. One Howard Stern is more than enough, thank you.

Other than that, I love you guys (and girls), but you’re still not getting my Bud Light.

They don’t get any money from me unless they play some kind of instrument..Harmonica, old 6 string aucostic guitar out of tune with only 2 strings left on it….etc.

    Good article!

Absolutely – like the old “In Living Color” character – “wrote a song about it – like to hear it? – here it goes!”

Generally, I give them the employment classifieds or the apple from my lunch.

    Thank you.

Although I don’t give quarters to the bums under the highway, I do donate dollar bills to this group of poor unfortunate young ladies that work long hard hours at an establishment just outside of town. The poor things are so skinny it looks like they haven’t eaten in days and they can barely afford clothes to cover themselves up. They are very appreciative though. It’s the least I can do.

    1. Absolutely

    2. Exactamundo!

    3. Correctamente!

I love you guys too, just not in the biblical sense. You girls…possibly a different story, although photographic evidence will be required.

Was a guy I saw when I was in DC (go figure) on business. He was playing drums on old buckets and assorted pieces of wood. To be honest he may be one of the best drummers I have ever seen. How can someone who is ingenious enough to build and play a drum set made of street garbage not have a job?

Although there was an old blues guitarist that used to play on South Street in Philly….he was really good too. He could play anything that the people wanted. Nice old guy. I bought him a sandwhich at wawa once. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I rated you a one for saying that people were cheap for voting for themselves. *wink*

I have a question though. Leonsis was suspended for a week. I’m up to date on most NHL rules and how they are enforced, but management has never been a real interest to me. What does Leonsis’s suspension actually mean. Since he owns the team, and basically the rink, the NHL couldn’t say he can’t be there, can he? How can you suspend an owner from being an owner?

Or is it a contact thing where he can’t be near the team for a week. Which at the same time is again stupid as the incident had nothing to do with the team and Leonsis while a hands on owner, really doesn’t have much to do with the on ice product.

Actually, you’re correct. He is barred from attending games for a week. I’m pretty sure it goes for practices as well.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense, does it?

You’re right, though – definitely a “hands on” owner.

    Ha!
