Wesley not a Leaf yet

Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said yesterday felt like trade deadline day already, as his phone was ringing off the hook. It appears as though Rutherford and Toronto GM Pat Quinn are putting together the final details in a deal that will indeed see the veteran blueliner Wesley in Toronto in the next couple of days.
In exchange for Wesley Toronto is likely to give up not much more than a fringe prospect or draft picks. “We’ll still be active, for sure. We’ve had some interest in trying to improve our club on defence and in other areas. We’ve addressed the situation up front (Nolan) and while there are not a lot of defencemen out there, we’d still be looking to do something.” Quinn said yesterday.
Quinn may not stop there, his first two choices are actually L.A.’s Aaron Miller and the Sabres’ Alexei Zhitnik. With the positive reaction that Quinn received in Toronto after the Nolan deal there is a distinct possibility that he could bring in Wesley plus one of Miller or Zhitnik.
