I wonder if you studied the Free Agent market every year if you would find that most guys going to the Free Agent market are coming from either bottom 15 teams with no end in site, or from teams that they have seemingly been pushed out of. It's a theory with no actual homework down behind it, but I would hazard a guess most guys going for the paycheck aren't in the same situation as Grabo.

That's been one of Burke's biggest things, making an atmosphere in Toronto that players want to be in. THose things like giving a guy a shot somewhere else, not asking a guy to drop his NTC etc all might not make a lot of sense to people but they go to create an environment that players want to be in.

Liles staying for a fairly cheap price is a good sign that Burke's created that.

Ya Morrow interest me the most. Doan is getting a little long in the tooth and would be a better fit on a contender considering the assets.

Malone's production has been steadily declining while not a horrible option I would only be interested in a Komisarak-Malone swap (salary for salary).

Penner, thanks but not thanks. Morrow is young enough to still be productive for a few years and I think could fit in nicely with the group.

I agree on Penner. Yes size would be a very welcome addition but at the moment I like the character of the group. I just can't see Penner fitting in with this group.

Liles could've done much better on the FA market. Burke is a players GM and the majority of his contracts so far have been quite solid.

Burke does rather well with contracts. I'm expecting around 3y, 4.75m. One thing I can guarantee is that Grabovski won't see 4+ years term. Likely 3 if not 2.

Interesting... Hopefully he can be had for a mid to late round pick! Unfortinatly the Leafs dont have a 3rd/4th so maybe 1 or 2 "B" prospects + pick?

Combination of Mikus/Mitchell/D'Amigo/Nicholls?? And maybe a 2013 3rd rounder?

First I wanna say that its FINALLY great to be back posting and not just lurking.... got my computer back!

Second.... I'm going to make you eat your words! hahah... remember you said that...

I easily predict a contract either at 2-4 years 5-6 mil per. Or 4-6 years at 4-5 mil per....

I'm saying that the longer the term the less money or if its a shorter term he'll maximize his dollar amount... this is only if Burke manages to re-sign him... otherwise it'll be a hell of a bidding war for him july 1....

Bottom line is that he will get plekanec money... as far as how many years... we can only wait and see

He certainly does if the Leafs need some cap space. 3.5 million for a checker doesnt make much sense now does it?
