What will Dan Cleary do?

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that there is no clear call for Cleary to stay with Detroit.

While it is mentioned that Cleary loves being in Detroit and is a good friend to his fellow teammates the problem for Cleary is that his contract is almost up. Presently Cleary is earning about 650,000 thousand per season and players who are comparable are now signing for around 3-4 million per season. The Wings are not set to pay Cleary that price, “not even close” so Ken Holland is asking Cleary to decide his intentions and to let him know prior to the trade deadline. While it is not directly reported that the Wings will move Cleary one has to wonder what the Wings will do if Cleary is not in their future plans.

So the problem is … Clearly loves to play in Detroit but at what price. While other players take paycuts to play in Detroit it appears that Cleary will have to do the same if he wants to remain with the Wings.
