He didn't say the SHOULD tank, he said will any of them be elite. There is a difference, he is merely suggesting that if they can get an elite player they should. Why? Because elite players are RARE. Funny how i have noticed some Leaf fans can write on a Habs article without bashing, HMMMMM?

You will be lucky if Subban turns out that good. You are severely overrating your Habs players/prospects and knocking Kaberle because he is a Leaf. He is a top point producing defencemen in this league many times over.

I am a die hard Habs fan, but I don't think any team would take Kovalev right now. The only team I see maybe being interested is Vancouver. Playing with Demitra might bring him out of his funk and if it did, would give them a boost. They have started playing better and Sundin is finally getting his timing and conditioning back. But, if they did want to take a chance, I doubt they would give up more than a 2nd round pick, or maybe Wellwood who seems to keep ending up in the doghouse.

What may be interesting is a rumour that Phoenix may be looking to move Jokinen, probably to make room for Turris who they have just sent down. I have no idea if they want roster players, picks, prospects, or a combination. It would be nice to add him if it would cost Plekanec, Begin, and 2nd round pick. It would give Mtl a big centre who played well in the Eastern conference without giving up too much. Or Mtl could make that trade and then package him with Higgins, a first rnd pick, and Emelin for Lecavalier.

To get the type of players you listed you need to tank.

Tanking has never been an option for Montreal.

Pittsburgh, Washington and more recently Toronto are tankers.

Tanking has some kind of looser groove to it. You can't win 24 cups and agree which such mentality.

Who cares what he is worth, take anything. Someone will cough up at least a second round pick for this clown. I still think his fit is Washington. Playing with russians that make him look old would be perfect. It might wake the lazy pig up or at least it would show him it's time to hang em up. If no deal can be made, SEND HIM DOWN TO THE AHL .
