he wants to play, according to the rumors, close to his daughter who lives in LA. also, at the end of the season, he’s UFA so it would be stupid to lose a guy like that. y would montreal lose him? because markov and rivet also are UFA and montreal don’t have enough $$$ to keep them all!probably not anyways….why is souray the odd man out? markov is n.1…..like him or not montreal’s defense is horrible without him….rivet is saku’s best friend and i doubt he’ll leave montreal…he spent his whole career here….so do the math….you have a guy probably the 29 other teams are gonna go after….a ”little” hard to keep him!

I agree many Habs fan come up with stupid trade examples…just like many Leafs fan come up with ridiculous proposal…One fan making a stupid proposal does not the rest of the fan base that stupid….and yes it applies to every team fans….

BTW…..Atherial deal is not so that bad…..unless you think Lecavalier is worth half the Habs roster. Who would be stupid enough to send a #1 goalie, a first line foward and a top defenseman for him? San Jose did it for the MVP of the league (Thornton)…..not Lecavalier.

ideally, i would love brian rolston…..i don’t know what that guy ate but since last year he’s simply amazing! however, he’ll be impossible to move from minessota that’s why my next option is conroy.

and as for perezhogin/plekanec…..i don’t see them being the future of the habs! yes they are talented and everyting just…i don’t really see them being the dominating players like ryder and higgins are being now….personnally i would sacrifice perezhogin anytime(not a big fan of his)…there seems to be missing something in his game….i don’T know what but there’s something missing!

To get a player like LeCavalier, the Canadiens would have to give a lot more than that. Crystobal Huet is far away from being a proven elite number one goaltender…the guy didn’t even start one full season in the NHL yet…Andrew Raycroft has better value than him ! And no, I’m not a Leafs fan…I’m a die-hard Habs fan, so don’t even go there…

To get a player like LeCavalier, the Habs would have to sacrifice either Chris Higgins or Michael Ryder, along with another young forward, probably Mike Komisarek and a decent pick. Tampa knows they can ask for more to Montreal, only because he’s what everybody here in Montreal are dreaming about…a french speaking franchise player.

Personally, I wouldn’t do it…I wouldn’t even go after the guy. Sure, he’s a great player…but I just know the price will be too high !
