Will the Blue jackets swing a deal?

The Blue Jackets are starting to draw the attention of the league now, and for all the wrong reasons.

At 0-7-1 after a crushing 4-3 loss to Ottawa on Saturday, the Blue Jackets took a day off today. They’ll get back to work on at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, giving them a day to get ready for a rematch with Detroit.

But the questions swirling around the franchise aren’t taking a break. How many more can this team lose? How much longer can coach Scott Arniel keep his job? For that matter, what about GM Scott Howson? Is a trade shake-up coming?

Club president Mike Priest told The Dispatch last week, and Howson reiterated, that it would be unfair to fire Arniel before he gets to coach the fully-assembled Blue Jackets. That means defenseman James Wisniewski, who will make his Blue Jackets debut on Tuesday against Detroit after serving eight games. That means center Jeff Carter who, theoretically, could play this week if his right foot heals enough to let him skate without massive pain.
