Will Theo play against the Habs?

The Colorado Avalanche are contemplating starting Montreal’s former netminder, for his return to the Bell Center. (Theo’s morale seems to be up right now, and if he wins this game, his morale will sky-rocket… but if the Bell-Center-booes gets to him, his morale will plumet.)

Avs’ coach Joel Quenneville said this week that there was a good chance to see Theodore play against his former team on saturday.

What are your thoughts, should Quenneville go with Theo or give him the night off?

If he is able to go, he should definitely play. If he can’t handle boos at the Bell Center, you would have to wonder just how far he can take the Avs this season. It would be an excellent test for him.

I think he is already schedueled to play. And after the game against the sens… he’s a shoe in.

  3. Mainer87 says:

I hope we run that piece of crap out of town. He is overrated and nothing would be more satisfying to c him depressed. I hope the habs light him up just like the Buffalo/Philly game.

  4. Air33 says:

i just hope the habs win and everyone has fun.

  5. robinson19 says:

You will se the Bell Centre crowd show initial indifference peppered with a few boos, followed by:

    1) if he plays well, cheers
    2) if they get to him early, jeers

Piece of crap? for what exact reason do you classify him as a piece of crap. He won the vezina in montreal, the first since Patrick Roy and then had one really crappy half season. It doesnt make sense for Habs fans to boo him tonight, he never requested a trade, he never wanted to leave montreal, and he never demanded the massive overpaid salary. Habs management and fans have EVERYTHING to do with Theo leaving montreal

  7. CedrickRozon says:

dude… just look at Theodore Career stats, the ONE thing that will JUMP OUT at you is INCONSISTENCY

btw, its not oe crappy half season, its a crappy season and a half since he won that vezina trophy, last year was just the bottom of the barrel, dont worry, by march, you’ll have learned to hate him too

i agree with EddieAVS, because theo did love his time in montreal, management gave him the monsterous contract, he never asked for a trade, andmatter of fact he said he only wanted to play in montreal, but he was the one that negotiated the signing so im pretty sure he wouldn’t of gone for a salary much lower than that or else gainey would of signed him mucn lower than that.

I hope he plays so that he can show that the habs made a mistake in trading him, I am a huuuuge habs fan and i loved thoe when he was there, i still respect him and i hope he regains his form that i know he has. Reason he was chased was because he was a whinner, and was in a group of players seperate from the team (Dagenais, Ribeiro, Zednik, Bulis, Audette, Ryder) hence why Gainey got rid of them all, but Ryder who he moved to a line with the leader. He wants a tight knit team and i beleive he has gotten one now with players who want to play. Hopefully when theodore gets back on to his top form like i know he can than hopefully he returns to montreal when he becomes mature and dedicaes himself to the team and notowards his statistics and his hair.

I think he will play due to his performance agaisnt the senators and he was peppered with shots in the 1st and 3rd period and stood his ground. He came up clutch at the end of the game and held on to win the game…so i think his morale is high enough to paly in Montreal and if he wins, it’ll prove to management he is on his way back up to is calibre and #1 status and if he is bothered by boos, don’t expect Quenville to keep him in once he shows signs of loss, budaj will be in without a question if he struggles. Honestly i think that he will do very well but habs will win but theodore will play very well even thou there wil lbe a mixture of boos and cheers.

I HOPE WE RUN HIM OUT OF TOWN TOO…

LARGE CONTRACT WAS STUPIDITY AND NO DECENT BACKUPS AT THE TIME. MANAGEMENT WAS HANDCUFFED INTO GIVING HIM A CONTRACT.

GAINEY IS A GOD IN MY EYES BUT THE ONLY THING HE WAS MISTAKEN ON WAS THINKING THAT THEO WAS ANOTHER ROY.

I HOPE WE BOO HIM AND GET HIM OFF HIS GAME FROM THE START.. MONTREAL WILL BE BRUTAL WITH HIM IF HE LETS IN A FEW..

GOOD LUCK PRETTY BOY – YOU WILL NEED IT …

I HATED HIM FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS IN MONTREAL – AND YES – HE IS A FLASH IN THE PAN AND YOU AVALANCHE FANS WILL HATE HIM SOON TOO – I AGREE WITH THOSE PRIOR POSTS…

Ditto, his good performance against the Sens should allow him to play tomorrow night against the Habs.

Why is everybody so sure that Theo will be booed by the crowd ? It’s not like he said something, or did something after the trade was announced to piss the crowd off. Sure, he didn’t play well at all for us last season…but I remember when Brisebois came back for his first game in Montreal after being traded…he got an ovation. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen an ex-hab being booed. Not Patrick Roy, not Mark Reechi, not Brian Savage…not even Vladimir Malakhov.

Do I start Theo if I’m the coach ? Well, if I’m thinking about the team…no I don’t. But not because I’m affraid Theo’s gonna get booed. But because I know the Canadiens know Theodore’s weaknesses better than anybody. Same thing for Montreal…I would start Huet, not Aesbischer saturday. However…everybody knows that Aebischer and Theodore want to be in the net !!! They want to prove to their former team that they made a bad decision by trading them.

…and I just don’t see Quenneville or Carbonneau standing in front them saying: “You know what…you’re not going to play tonight !”

Can’t wait to see that game !

  13. shifterdarkwolf says:

He will play, if nothing else because he and coach knows that if he does not play against his old team, the press will lay into him a bit for being a coward. Colorado won’t be back in Montreal for another 3 years, and who knows where Theo could be by then. This is probably his only chance to stick it to his old team, i doubt he is going to back down.

  14. HabsRUs says:

I hope Theodore doesn’t get booed. I think the Montreal Canadiens’ fans should stand up and give him a warm Bell Center ovation. If I was attending this game, which I’m not, I would stand up and cheer for the guy who brought the Hart and Vezina trophies home for us, and single handedly pulled off two upsets in a row against a 1st, then 2nd seeded Bruins squad. Please guys, don’t boo him, it not a respectful move to make. Sure, he had an offseason last year, but we still made the playoffs, thanks to Huet. Sure we even gave him an extremely big contract, but we traded him away didnt we? No permanent damage done there is it? So just ignore all this foolishness, sit back, grab a cold beer, and enjoy some Saturday Night hockey.

If you don’t see things my way, just cheer because we got rid of him (lol). Or cheer because he got laid by one of the hottest girls on this plllllaaaaaaaaannnnettt wooooo! (Paris Hilton)

  15. passionch says:

Who knows but there are always “fans” who just do it for no reason at all (same thing happens with Brisebois who is also playing against the Habs as an Avs). It would be nice to have Abby play against Theo saturday night!

  16. EasternHockey says:

Single handedly pulled off two upsets? Paris Hilton one of the hottest girls on this planet? Buddy, what planet do you come from?

  17. HabsRUs says:

Yes single handedly, pretty much. Paris Hilton is ONE of the hottest girls on TV. I’d do her anyways. What a f@g lol…. go stick your ***** in brad pitts @ss hahah im sure you’d rather…

  18. EasternHockey says:

Hahaha I’m sure you’re 13 years old and would glady have sex with a whore-ish b!tch who has the face of a horse, and voice of a man. Hey, some people just have higher standards than others. I guess you’d just gladly ***** anything with a hole.

  19. HabsRUs says:

13 years old? Is that the only comeback anyone can use on this site? lol
Who the hell has higher standards than Paris Hilton? Who are you *****in dude? So youre tellin me that if Paris Hilton spread her legs, you wouldnt ***** her?? Sorry man this conversation is over, I don’t feel comfortable talking to you. You dont swing my way

  20. EasternHockey says:

Depends how drunk I’d be. Otherwise I’d be too afraid of catching a disease.

I made a mildly offensive statement about your taste in women, which resulted in you calling me a homo. That’s where the age comeback comes from. Not everyone has the same taste in women, you like Paris Hilton, fine, I on the other hand, perfer females who don’t go around parading like whores.

  21. my_sphincter says:

Sometimes whores are fun for a round or 2.

  22. my_sphincter says:

    8-5

Seems to me that neither Theo nor Abby played on Saturday night!
