I agree, if anyone deserved that job its him.

    Good for him.

I love the move. I’ve been worried in recent offseasons as there had been some speculation that another coachless team would try to lure Smith or Lewis away from the Wings. Instead, we get Lewis! What can be better?

Further, after 2000-2001 and the early exit against the Kings, there was speculation that Scotty Bowman’s message had gone stale. Now, we won the cup this year with Scotty’s message, but the point was well taken. The new message should help the Wings. And if the team doesn’t like it, I expect Steve Yzerman to whip them into shape quick.

Any way I look at it, it seems like Lewis is a great choice at coach.

    This is good.

good choice! he’s been with the team (and bowman) for years, and he knows what bowman does, so, bowman, lewis, same coaches

Great, about time!…..Now go & sign Fedorov to a multi-year extension & not make this a contract year!

Another cool thing is that Joey Kocur is going to be named as the other assistant coach. I’m happy to see him givin a chance, and the players respect him too.

  8. NewYorkRangers says:

I loved watching Joey Kocur play, when he was with the Rangers. He was nothing special, but played with a lot of heart. Did you know that he was the Rangers’ third goalie? If there were to ever be an emergency during the game, like both goalies getting hurt, he would’ve been the goalie.

  9. ManillaKilla says:

I saw that, too. Sweet! Good for Joey. On another note, I heard John Warton is leaving the team to persue other things.

  10. KaPluie says:

He is. He apparently wants to explore other areas of his life, such as being a personal trainer, and writing books and screenplays. He also wants to spend more time with his kids.
