Wings pick up option on Hasek reports that the red wings have chosen to pick up Dominik Hasek’s option for the 2003-2004 season, effectively taking him off the free agent list. However, this option does not guarantee that he will play, but from reports surfacing from around the league, Hasek will replace Joseph as the #1 goaltender in “hockeytown”.

The only last hurdle in this situation is trading Curtis Joseph and the $16m left over in his contract. That will be a tough duty because he has a no-trade clause which he may decide to keep, and force the wings to either trade Hasek or buy him out.

What are your thoughts? who will play next season and what will happen with the other?

    And now Cujo goes to……………..

    Rangers (3-way deal including Dunham)?

Man. Cujo beaten like a rented mule, again…

i feel sorry for cujo but screw him just like he screwed us. But if hasek dose not come back you people should forget what i have said about cujo. Another thing is that if hasek dose not come back how are the fans going to treat cujo.

Cujo should force the Wings to buy him out. They screwed him, so he should return the favor. If not I think a three way deal could take place with perhaps NYR, Philly and Detroit. Perhaps Colorado, Boston and San Jose could be part of the dealings.

send Cujo to Philly – he should have been here about 5 years ago instead of Adolf Vanbriesbrouck.

  6. mikster says:

Philly and Rangers? Ouch….tough there…Philly and Rangers would not want to trade.

However, I can see LeClair for Cujo.

LMAO…..I so agree with your statement, nice work!!! On both accounts!!!

The teams that will make a pitch for him are:

    NY Rangers

    NY Islanders

The teams that Detroit will deal with are:

    NY Rangers

    NY Islanders

Not a hope in hell they will deal him to one of the three biggest rivals.

Sorry, I was speaking of Cujo, I believe they’re riding Hasek.

    awful situation for the wings.

no matter who they trade they will get raped by the other team. no way that they will be able to get something worthy for either cujo or hasek unless ilitch digs new holes in his pockets to eat a great chunk of either salary.

might be a sign that fedorov is leaving because their payroll will be above 70 mio if he resigns to his suggested salary.

i think it would be better to settle with a cheaper center this upcoming season. with the cba looming they might be better off trading cujo and giving hasek a one year contract.
