Yanic, Petr, Anson and Gomez, Oh My!

Yanic Perreault is rumored to be down to four teams for a possible 06/07 home. The teams are Calgary (e2), Pitt (e3), Ottawa (e2), and the Avs (e3).

He is one of the best face-off men in the world and scored

and average of 23 goals over the last five seasons.

Last year with Montreal he had 10 power-play goals

and 57 points in 69 games.

Petr Sykora may have found a home in the city of

Edmonton (e3, with potential for e4). The other team interested is Calgary, looks like a summer battle fo Alberta!

From a source of Eklund, “Carter’s numbers have

gone down a bit in the last 24 hours, and this has

started up some serious talk again, with the Leafs

and Canucks. The Red Wings are interested as well.”

In other news Gomez and the Coyotes is “a trade I’d bet my house on.” According to one of Eklund’s

sources. Lou is a shifty one and the Devils are the

absolute hardest team to get rumors out of. All NJ

stuff comes from the outside and Lou has been rumored to pull the plug if a rumor gets out there.

The Leafs don’t have a penny of cap room, so Carter won’t sign in Toronto, If Calagary gets Sykora, they are definetly cup favorites in my oppinion, and Perrealt is an EXCELLENT pickup for any team.

  2. jocool_88 says:

OK, Perreault did not play for montreal last year so i dont believe a word of this post other than the Gomez Coyotes info, get your facts straight before posting……

  3. Mattqwerty says:

yanic is a solid pick up by any team for sure as for carter going to the leafs jfj could do some minor moves to make room for him if he realy wanted to he could make it happen but personaly i could care less at this point id rather the leafs go in with the team they have now and being a bit under cap and save the money and maybe do something else at the trade deadline if they are in a playoff spot or chasing one

  4. mafew says:

the poster was qouting an article,

  5. Nordiques4ever says:

this is probably just an error, Perrault was in Nashville last season and he got those numbers with the Preds…

  6. mafew says:

The Leafs are more likely to trade, than get carter…. unless they do something at involves both (trading to create cap space).

As a leaf fan I’m somewhat indifferant about these rumors. Sure, Sundin could use a high scoring winger (which Carter MIGHT be)… but he could have used one for much of his career in Toronto. He still got 70+ points in 70 games with a rotation of 2nd and 3rd line guys at his wings.

The Leafs aren’t going to dominate this year by any stretch of the imagination, but they have improved through subtraction up front, and added a solid pair into their defense corps. (Albeit for a high price).

If the leafs do anything, they should sign Legace for the supposed 1.5 mill he is looking for. That would REALLY solidify the crease in the even that Raycroft plays at ECHL level this year.

  7. dcz28 says:

For Calgary to be cup favorite they have to get a #1 centre…something they have needed for a long time just like the Leafs have needed a sound defensive dman for a long time and have yet to do (Leafs should have signed McKee instead of Kubina).

  8. wayne2 says:

The sens are still strong everywhere except center,Perreault is the missing link.

  9. Pock_53 says:

The Buzz is an absolute horrible resourse, however, i do agree Gomez will be trade in the off season and probably to Phoenix. The price will be high, one of there young highly tauted defensemen and a high draft pick. Despite what many think, i don’t see Lou looking for a centerman. Rafalski doesn’t sign w/ the devils next season unless Lamoriello gets a deal on his terms. So a young defense makes sense.

  10. Milohabs says:

Funny, but looking at the roster the way you just layed it out, The Sens look VERY mediocre going into next season. They will still be good, but not great and not the dynamo they were last year.

Alfredsson usually has injury problems (last year being an exception). If he goes down, they are SCREWED.

  11. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

A solid D-man? McCabe, Kaberle, and Kubina not solid enough? The Leafs need a winger for Sundin. Calgary does need a center, but the pickings are slim. Maybe Briere or Gomez,

  12. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

The Leafs have 3 NHL quality goalies, plus they want Pogge to start in the AHL. I would like to see how Legace plays outside Detroit, but he could be the next Lalime.

  13. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Well a lot of those guys are young, so if they all improve they won’t be mediocre. The Team looks mediocre without Hasek, Havlat, Smokes, and Chara.

  14. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

yep goaltending is strong from last few years as well. solid season choking in playoffs.

  15. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

and whats that E3 and E2 stuff beside players?

  16. markjohnston says:

what do those (e#) things mean anyway?

  17. Rusal says:

they mean how strong is the possibility of that rumor to become reality they go till E5

  18. Rusal says:

if you were watching rangers playoffs you wouldn’t say that, sykora sucks under presure and he showed nothing once Jagr went down

  19. thebig-O-iler says:

If the Oil gets Sykora I think they’ll have one of the more dangerous offensive lineups in the league… hopefully it won’t be a last game of the season nail-biter as to whether they get in the playoffs but rather can we finish high enogh to NOT play Dallas or Calgary in the 1st round again… I honestly think that was one of the main reasons that they made it as far as they did…

Just need another SOLID D-man and we may never hear the name Pronger again…. lol

  20. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

got Torres on there twice, I don’t know if Hejda and Smid are better than Bergeron and Greene

  21. thebig-O-iler says:

oops – never try posting after post-work beers lol – I meant

    Jacques or Winchester/Reasoner/Moreau

Bergeron faded during the playoffs and struggled after being moved away from Pronger. Of course I could have probably looked good playing with Pronger lol.. Greene is a tough kid but takes too many penalties… hopefully maturity/experience will teach him how to still play tough but smarter…

  22. PaulK123 says:

Ya only an error. I was thinking of him in his Montreal Days..sorry! T_T

  23. dcz28 says:

I said solid defensive as in great in their own zone which McCabe, Kaberle and Kubina are not (Kaberle being the better of the 3)…i didn’t say the Leafs didn’t have other holes to fill (wingers for Sundin) just that i don’t think they really signed the right type of dman they have been lacking for years and McKee to me would have been a better fit and a bit cheaper too (if he did want to play with the Leafs) then with the little money saved they might have had enough for Carter or another winger via trade but that’s just what i would have done if i was JFJ.

  24. dcz28 says:

People always make it seem like it’s a bad thing Smolinski is gone when it is a very good thing for the Sens.

I think the Sens will be fine without those guys…not better then last season but fine none the less.

  25. mikeribeiro says:

his this guy really pasting a Eklund comment ???????? Oh, those rumors must be true !

  26. Preft says:

The leaf doesn’t have any money…and their palyer whith hight salary doesnt interessest anybody..because their overpaid the best is KABERLE

  27. ObjectiveImpartiaL says:

The Oiller’s have already said that Smid probley will not play this season. I would also think Pouliot will be in the line up at some point next year. Probley befoe Jacques

  28. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Anyone could have done a better job than JFJ, I think that Gil, Colaiacovo, and possiblky Harrison, (if he plays) will be very good in the defensive zone, and the Top 3 aren’t bad as it is. I would’ve liked McKee too, but whats done is done.

  29. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Well his roster spot is being filled by Hamel or Hannessey, so its a bigger loss than you think. If Eaves and Vermette get better watch out Eastern conference, if they don’t watch out sens.

  30. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Leafs are mentioned so Leaf fans will post, but the Leafs wont pick up any UFA’s any time soon. The only thing that could happen is a trade.

  31. LeafsJaysRapsBillsManU says:

Your use of “English” made my eyes bleed.

  32. duffman29 says:

if I wanted to read Eklunds BS, I would just go to hockeybuzz.com, try finding your own stories man

  33. mojo19 says:

Sykora was good for the devils in the playoffs, and was he part of the anaheim cup final run?

  34. dcz28 says:

I watched over 90% of the Sens games last season including pre-season and Smolinski is pretty much useless…he doesn’t really play physical, he’s not much of a playmaker, he always took weak shots from far away with when nobody was infront of the net and put it right in the chest of the goalies (not much of a scorer since most of his goals were tap-ins resulting from great play from his linemates), not much of a leader either…giving more ice time to Fisher or any other player will be a big plus for the Sens…if you don’t believe me just watch the Sens games last season and you will see what i mean…not worth the money he was getting paid or the ice time he was being given.

  35. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

17 goals 48 assists, he couldn’t have been that bad. now that could have been mostly due to his linemates, but I doubt his replacement will do as well. And he was a guy all the players liked am I correct?

  36. dcz28 says:

Fisher more then deserves more ice time and so does Vermette, Eaves, Kelly and others and with more ice time their points should increase depending on who Murray gives that time to…maybe Smolinski was liked by the players (i’m not sure since i’m not in the locker room) but i have not heard much comments in the media from the players being sad he is gone…most Sens fans have wanted him gone for a while now and are glad he is gone so that says something about his play (what he brings for the salary he was making last year and this year).

Just the fact that Muckler tried to deal him all of last season with no takers and had to dump him in the Havlat trade (like he did with DeVries in the Hossa deal) should tell you all you need to know.
