“1. Sean Avery (has to be no.1)

2. Darcy Tucker (whiniest puke of all time, hated him in Montreal even)

3. Mathieu Barnaby

4. Ed Belfour (just a complete jacka**)

5. Ronald Corey (for ruining the Habs for many years- being a big part of Lafleur retiring prematurely and Roy leaving)”

“most hated

1. Tod Bertuzzi

-he broke a guys neck on one of the lowest moves in sports history. worse than marty mcsorley

2. Martin Brodeur

-i always believed this guy overrated and from what I heard, he cheated on his wife with her sister.

3.Sid the Kid

-he always seems to show extreme arrogance and never just goes out and plays. he whines at everything and starts fightsand has his teammates finish them for him (they are made to by the orginization)

4.Dominic Hasek

-refused to give his autograph for free to be sold at an auction benifiting children with cancer (i heard this from my roomate at the U of M camp, so im not 100% sure of its truth)

5.Peter Forsberg

-i know that he has talent, but he dives a lot and criticizes onters when they do the same. he also punched Dan Coutier in the nuts.”

I remember the nuts punch, it was hard to leave Forsberg off my list, but I figured, he seemed like an ok guy in interviews, he’s gotta lose points for that, even if he is a dick on the ice.

Any ways…

“My real top 5 most hated of all-time

1. Darcy Tucker

2. Steve Moore

3. Gary Suter – something about him intentionally injuring Canadian star players before major international events.

4. Bryan Marchment – injured a lot of players with knee-on-knee hits.

5. Jaromir Jagr – the memory of that stupid salute of his, along with the mullet, will never die.”

I wasn’t sure which list to put in… I put this one in, because you referred to it as your real list, and I like this list better… I like Martchment and Tucker, but I understand why they’re there.

“Hated:

1. Avery: He’s an embarrassment to the League. He takes so many penalties, w/o having the ability to turn an game around. The rest of the players should realize how badly he can hurt the bottom line, especially with L.A. exposure.

2. Brashear: No doubt, the McSorley stick incident was beyond the scope of ‘tough’ hockey. It sucked to see Brashear, or anyone, hit the ice like that. The way his head hit the ice, you knew he was already knocked out. Brashear embarassed himself, the League, and tough hockey players everywhere by returning to the NHL and starting to wipe his hands off at the end of each fight (as an arrogant sign of finishing someone).

3. Chris Simon: Another tough hockey player. Problem with him is his racist tendancies (the Mike Grier incident). Simon really hurt the game and jeopardized the efforts of visibile minorities to gain respect in the League. The most disheartening part of it is that Simon is a visible minority himself, and it just speaks with such shame to his ignorance.

4. Bertuzzi: Not for the reasons you may think. Of course, the Moore incident guarantees him a spot on this list. But I’ve had a beef with him long before. He’s a huge, tough guy. Impossible to move infront of the net. All kinds of footage with guys hacking, crosschecking, slough-footing him in front of the net when the puck is there, and he never goes down. If he’s carrying the puck near one of the circles and a stick so much as sneezes on him, he goes down in a mess and tries to draw a penalty. I’ve always found him to be one of the biggest divers, and you can’t have that for a top goal scorer and big name hockey player.

5: Belfour and Turco: They tie for the same reasons. These two are the most dirty goalies in the game. It must be the Dallas goaltending coach. They always take hacks at the back of players legs, right behind the knee, where there’s not protection. Its dangerous and its cheap because they know it is so unlikely that they’ll be retaliated against. Its brutal how often it happens, how intentional it always is, and how they are yet to face suspensions for INTENTIONAL stick infractions to a players unprotected body. It just sucks to see two great and competitive goalies have such little respect for their co-workers.”

“- Claude Lemieux (i know he doesn’t play anymore) but as a Wings fan this guy is a disgrace to the game of hockey for what he did to draper and i wish he still played so i could see him get beat up.

– Darcy Tucker Diver, big mouth and a dirty player.

– Sean Avery has a big mouth for a guy so dumb…glad the Wings got rid of this clown.

– Peter Forsberg he’s a great player but i just hate him and loved it when Larionov bloodied him up when the Wings and Avs went at it

– Alexei Yashin good talent and skills but he has no heart and doesn’t care about anything else but his paychecks”

I didn’t post the thing on Lindros and Berard, because you listed 7 players. But people just note, he had a pretty good argument against both of them.

by: flyersfan21

“1. Eric Desjardins – too slow and always turns the puck over. needs to retire.

2. Darcy Tucker – gets hit and lays on the ice like he’s been shot to death.

3. Sidney Crosby – needs to grow up and stop whinning.

5. Robert Esche – needs to grow up and stop whinning and worry about his own play.

6. Mark Recchi – he’s a cancer to any team. he’s a loud mouth back stabber.”

By 92-93

“1. Todd Bertuzzi

2. Daniel Alfredson

3. Todd Bertuzzi

4. Tie Domi (well tie domi of 2005-2006 a.k.a ‘the whiner’)

5. Todd Bertuzzi”

He listed Bertuzzi three times, and then commented that he forgot Ribeiro and Hasek, who will each recieve one point, Hasek will only recieve the five points for being number one on the list.

By: Kraut182

“1. Sean Avery- not even close, its Avery by a mile, just an all-around jerk

2. Jagr- he’s having one of those seasons where he wants to play so everyone is in love with him and forgets that with his talent he should be having these seasons every year and not just playing when he feels like it.

3. Kovalchuk- I’ve just never liked him since World Juniors. Always so *****y and full of himself. You can probably put Ovechkin as 3(a) and 3(b) with Kovalchuk, but I’ll give Ovechkin a little more time to prove he’s different.

4. Eric Boulton- that guy from the Thrashers, who you’d never hear anything about, probably because he’d be in the AHL or ECHL, if he wasn’t out gooning it up on a regular basis.

5. Perezhogin- I hate him just because he did something, IMO, that was worse than what Bertuzzi did but hardly anybody knows about it. Its like I feel I have to make up for the lack of other peoples hatred.”

“Alexei Yashin

Darcy Tucker

Miro Satan- overpaid, selfish player

Mike Modano- despite his fine NHL season, his team USA comments were really uncalled for

Donald Brashear

Darius Kasparitis

Mike Ribiero- if for no other reason than his playoff acting

Mark Recchi- master of the dive

Dominik Hasek- despite his years of being the Sabres’ franchise, the words “I’ll be a Redwing forever” should haunt him for just that long

Mats Sundin- sure he’s a great player and leader for Toronto, but what a dirty S.O.B. he can be and he never gets caught for it because of who he is”

Because he listed ten players, the scoring will go like this: 1. 5 2. 5 3. 4 4.4 5. 3 6. 3 7. 2 8. 2 9. 1 10. 1

hockeygrl84

“-Kasparaitis because he cheap shots and then cries like a little B*tch when someone retaliates or he receives a penalty

-Tucker bc he loves cheap shots as well….cant forget the peca playoff incident.

-Brodeur…i just can’t stand him

-Yashin because he needs to retire……tomorrow. and im an islanders fan.”

by: Potvinfan

“I hate one player and one player only; Hasek. I hate him for so many reasons.

Though there are a lot of players I dislike. Like…. every player on the Ottawa Senators team. Simply because they’ve beaten my poor Leafs so mercilessly this year it makes me want to cry.”

Hasek will get the full five points for being number one here, even if the reason for hatred is being so god damned good.

By: JannettyTheRocker

“1) Sean Avery (Kings) – A whiny racist biotch. I just hate him.

2) Cory Cross (Wings) – A former Oiler who sucks and doesn’t belong in the NHL. Gives too many pucks away. Glad he’s not with the Oilers anymore.

3) Mike Comrie (Coyotes) – Who holds out for more money when you’re unproven, haven’t done shit, and playing for your home team? Seriously, what a *****.

4) Todd Bertuzzi (Canucks) – I really don’t mind him as a player. When he’s on his game he’s great. But seriously, smacking a nobody over the head (which may have ended Steve Moore’s career), and basically getting away with it. That’s just wrong.

5) Donald Brashear (Flyers I think) – He just sucks. He’s just a goon, and is good for nothing except roughing guys up. Seriously, join a beer league Brashear.”

by: Tweek

“sean avery (how can he not be there)

vaclav varada (took a knee to theodores head)

mike peca (i hated him with passion when he played for buffalo)

todd bertuzzi (a no brainer)

jeremy roenick (should shut the hell up, i mean he is having a horid season and he thinks he should be on team usa?)”

Now, I took seriously anyone who argued I only didn’t like my dislikes because they were Leaf rivals, but some people plain and simple didn’t read the article, those were just the top five guys I hated, it wasn’t “the official list” it was an example for this contest. That’s why it’s HTR Fun, and not “Fans Rant” or “Opinion” or “Problems in the NHL”

Now, my votes don’t count for it, because I started this little game, but here we go… the semi-final standings……

1. Sean Avery (28)

2. Darcy Tucker (22)

3. Todd Bertuzzi (16)

4. Dominik Hasek (9)

-.Donald Brashear (9)

6. Darius Kasparitus (8)

-.Alexey Yashin (8)

8. Mike Peca (7)

9. Sidney Crosby (6)

-. Martin Brodeur (6)

-. Matthew Barnaby (6)

-. Jeremy Roenick (6)

13. Eric Desjardins (5)

-. Vaclav Varada (5)

-. Claude Lemieux (5)

-. Ilya Kovalchuk (5)

-. Jaromir Jagr (5)

18. Daniel Alfredsson (4)

-. Steve Moore (4)

-. Cory Cross (4)

-. Mike Modano (4)

-. Mike Ribeiro (4)

-. Miroslav Satan (4)

That’s actually the top 23, but w/e

That’s the final ballot, you can vote for any of these finalists.

The players who got votes, but didn’t make the top 23 are…

Tie Domi (3) Peter Forsberg (3) Gary Suter (3) Ed Belfour (3) Chris Simon (3) Mike Comrie (3) Mark Recchi (3) Bryan Martchment (2) Eric Boulton (2) Robert Esche (2) Mats Sundin (1) Alex Perezhogin (1)

The final “most loved” vote will be conducted later, and it looks like Smyth, Sakic, and Yzerman are running away with it.
