my deadline day trades

i am a first time writer on this site and i just thought i would share with you my ideas on what every team should do at the trade deadline. i will go through every team and suggest trades that i think they should do, and there may be some players that i list twice, with different scenarios. lets do this in alphabetical order shall we….   and feel free to leave your feedback and ideas

Big Changes coming in Minnesota?

The Star Tribune is reporting that the Wild are concerned about two major issues right now, Gaborik and Backstrom and their expiring contracts.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Black Hawks are likely to be buyers at this years trade deadline. The Hawks have not reached the post season since 2002 and need to continue their strong play in order to ensure that they reach the playoffs this season.

Team Canada 2010

With the Olympics growing nearer there has been alot of talk about who will represents Canada. Here are my picks. For starters Forwards John Tavares Kyle Turris (A)Steven Stamkos Defence Drew Doughty (A) Luke Schenn (C) Goalies Steve Mason Carey Price is reporting on the latest Maple Leafs News. One such piece of news is that it appears that the frustrations are beginning to get the best of the players as it is noted that Blake and Grabovski apparently got into a tussle at recent practice as a bunch of kids looked on.

Bruins looking to make some moves

The BostonHerald is reporting possible trade rumors that could involve the Colorado Avalanche or the Minnesota Wild.

TSN, probably the best hockey news outlet in all of Canada, has come up with their top 30 draft prospects for the upcoming 2009 NHL entry draft in Montreal, Quebec. Hockey analyst Bob McKenzie gives hockey fans a deep, and great analysis of all prospects in this years draft. According to TSN, this is their top 30 for 09.

Mega Deal in the Works between Pittsburgh and Tampa? is reporting the possibility of a huge trade between the Penguins and the Lightning that would see Martin St. Louis moved to Pittsburgh. is reporting on the latest trade rumors with regards to the Tampa Bay Lightning. It is believed that the Sharks and Blue Jackets are interested in several Bolt players.

Weight out for six weeks.

The New York Post is reporting that the New York Islanders have lost veteran Doug Weight for six weeks. Put differently HTR feels that not only did the Islanders loose Weight for six weeks but they will also lose out on part of his trade value.

New Jersey Devils

Who’s Hot

Patrik Elias (LW, NJ) is quietly putting together an amazing season; and he is on pace to reach somewhere around 92 points. He’s been brutally hot as of late, notching 11 points over his last ten games (three of them on the power play), and going plus-4 at the same time. As hard to believe as it may be, he’s actually unowned in a small percentage of leagues, which means there are quite a few fantasy hockey players out there not paying attention.

With the Olympics now 1 year away, I thought it would be time to pick my 2010 Team Canada. The team will consist of 13 forwards 7 defensemen, and 3 goalies. I’ll also include a taxi squad of 4 forwards, and 4 defenseman. I don’t know why I chose that number…I just did.

According to the Vancouver Province, the Canucks are heading into the trade deadline as buyers and have plenty of money under the salary cap to spend on new players.
