Alfredsson……Love Him or Hate Him?
So Alfredsson added another chapter to his book of “reasons why people can’t stand me” last night….or did he, was he shooting at the net or shooting it at Niedermayer?
I’m a Leaf fan and I think it was a direct shot at the net but knowing damn well there was Niedermayer in the way…the two birds with one stone effect.
I’m sure most Leaf fans will say “Of course he shot it at Niedermayer, he’s dirty look what he did to Tucker” and to that I say “Tucker did a similar thing to Peca in the playoffs, stop pretending Tucker was a victim in the Alfredsson incident…it’s called playoff hockey”. What I mean by that is this, in playoff hockey things are tense, you are told by the coaches to hit more and hit harder, you are told to capitalize on every possibility…Tucker hit out Peca’s knee and Alfredsson checked Tucker from behind, many players do something along those lines at least once in their career, it’s unfortunate but Anaheim fans and anti-Ottawa fans need not act like Alfredsson committed some sort of crime. Pronger’s got his two suspension worthy hits; Anaheim is no group of angels either.
I heard on Leafs lunch a caller say “Ottawa is a bunch of gutless cry baby cowards that can’t play hockey”…can someone help me with this one? I’m not looking for typical Leaf responses like “Ottawa sucks” or “cause guys like Alfredsson are on the roster” I want a solid reason why this team is slated as gutless cry baby cowards.
My favourite is Leaf fans calling into radio shows acting like Alfredsson is some maniac and he’s insane to do what he’s done (puck shot last night and the check from behind in the buffalo series on Tallinder). Leaf fans will be the first to jump up and cheer if Tucker, Belak, Domi (in the past) did the exact same thing…they would tell Ottawa fans to suck it up and “be tougher if you don’t like it” but when Ottawa does it all hell breaks loose….I’m generalizing on Leaf nation here, obviously not all Leaf fans would react this way.
The funny thing is that Leaf fans at least have some fuel as to why they dislike Alfredsson, but yet why does Ottawa boo Sundin when he plays in Ottawa….they have no reason, Sundin has done nothing even close to what Alfredsson, Tucker, Pronger have done….let me guess; you’re boo’ing just for the sake of boo’ing because the Leaf fans boo Alfredsson…sounds mature.
My main purpose is to ask you this:
Do you like Daniel Alfredsson and why/why not?

Sorry couldn’t find any, and definitely none against Ottawa, hmmm, funny how that proves my point.
