Berard wants out of Columbus is reporting that the Blue Jackets are shopping Bryan Berard as he has now asked for a trade. Berard is set to become unrestricted this offseason and may be one of the cheapest pickups at this trade deadline. is suggesting that his asking price is a mid level draft choice … affordable if you ask me.

As defenseman do not normally come cheap at this time of year because adding depth is hard to do HTR expects that he will go quick. Spectors hockey is suggesting that Vancouver, New Jersey and Anaheim are all interested and we could not agree more. Our guess is that he goes to Vancouver as it is well known that the Canucks are looking for another solid defenseman.

There is a rumor that Zherdev will be going to the Devils from Columbus, but I have a feeling somewhere along the lines of rumors, the name may have gotten mixed up and it makes me wonder if that name is really Berard.  I wouldn't mind seeing him there.

I think Berard would fit in on a team like Buffalo or Carolina, a team that doesnt have a good offensive guy for the power play. I was at the second Buf/Ott game and their powerplay was horrible, given Drury Afinogenov and Spacek are injured.

Also i think Pittsburgh should offer columbus a package for Shelley and Foote

anaheim should throw some picks at cbj for zherdev and berard

would be sweet to have him on the montreal blue line replace lazy rivet with a good body checker, maybe even a decent slap shot

Just want to know what you all think, anaheim picking up berard with a mid-round draft pick and maybe a prospect and then using the first rounder and a 2nd rounder and prospect for guerin…. or 1st and 2nd rounders and prospect brendan mikkelson for sheldon souray? Give me your thoughts
