Once he gets a few practices in to regain his timing this leaves the Habs with a surplus of defencemen. Markov, Komisarek, Souray, Rivet, Dandeneault, Streit, Bouillon and Niinima… That’s 8 of them and at some point Cote who had a good training camp will be healthy but he is still not a proven NHLer. So what now Hab fans? do we procede to trade some of them, do we rotate our defence corp like we have been doing with our goaltenders? You tell me… Do we trade Souray who has an huge value with his powerplay performances (I personally hope not)? Do we trade Markov who has a contract that expires at the end of the season? And can we make the team better by maybe getting a second line centerman who will do nothing but shoot the puck at the net when he’s fed by Samsonov and Kovalev. I hope that Gainey has something up his sleave because the Habs are doing very well but having two NHL defenceman not playing on a regular basis can hurt morale.

On another unrelated subject I just want to point out the awsome job done last game (against Atlanta) of our third line. Bonk, Jonhson and Perezhogin had one of the best games yet this season and it’s awsome to see them work in both ends of the rink. With the second line of Kovalev, Samsonov and Kostysin not lighting the lamp on a regular basis it’s nice to see the third line pick it up a notch.
