Carolina Close to a deal?

The News and Observer is rumoring that a deal is in the works for the Carolina Hurricanes. They are reporting that Jim Rutherford is only waiting to make a trade happen because the player has to waive his no trade clause to make it happen. The speculation is that the likely partner is the Philadelphia Flyers who are looking to move Pitkanen. It is said that if the deal does not happen in the next few days than the team will shift gears to focus on the free agent season.

Hopefully the Flyers know what their doing. I mean the whole team last year was dreadful but it seems they put a lot of blame on Pitkanen. I mean Richards, Carter, Umberger they all underperformed last year, yet all we hear about is Pitkanen. I think Pitkanen was thrust into the Number 1 D-man to early, and I think the addition of Kimmo would help Joni immensely. The article states their going to trade Pitkanen for Wallin; Wallin is a good d-man but he's also 32 while Pitkanen is only 23. But hey, I'm sure the Flyers know more than me, maybe they know Pitkanen can't make it here in Philadelphia and that a change of scenery is best for both parties. I've also heard things that he has a poor work ethic and is not liked by some of his teammates. So I guess we'll have to see how it pans out.

    Go Flyers!

Even if he can't make it in Philly he sure is worth more then Wallin. I still think he can make it here and given his last year ( he will lose arbitration) he should just take the long term deal the Flyers are offering and be happy and get back to playing the way he can and has shown in the past.

pitkanen this pitkanen that.  can he really have been the root of all that went wrong in philly.  if joni gets moved i think the flyers will live to regret it

Justin Williams anyone? The guy who is giving up his no trade clause better be Staal or Stillman otherwise screw this BS deal. Wallin?!? are you kidding me? There better be at least 2 first round picks coming this way as well.

If Flyers are smart they will hold on to Pitkanen. This kid is only 23 years old, and whoever you trade him for won't have the kind of potential that he does. It would be a dumb move!
