Florida Owners Downplay Rumors – Jokinen on the block?
The Palm Beach Post is downplaying any speculation regarding rumors with Olli Jokinen.
Apparently there has been a recent falling out between Jokinen and coach Jacques Martin which is fuelling reports that Jokinen may be on has way out of town. One rumor that has been making the rounds would see Jokinen go to Calgary for Alex Tanguay who appears to be on his way out of town in Calgary. Of interest is that Jokinen blossomed under Keenan while in Florida.
What is interesting about this article is that one of the majority owners has stepped in to say that the team has no interest in trading Jokinen. HTR believes that if the right offer comes along, the Panthers will be open to many different options.

A recent fallout? Hasn't this been going on for ages between them?
Jokinen has been under trade speculation for years now with no evidence that he would really be shopped. The Panthers GM has repeatedly said he wouldn't part with him unless what he got back was superior. As Jokinen is one of the elite forwards in the League, and at a reasonably Cap Hit of $5.25 million (one million more than Scott Hartnell) I don't see him going anywhere.
Oli Jokinen is absolutely amazing. I love the way this guy plays. If Calgary gets him, I would hope for Florida's sake that they give up a lot more then just Tanguay to land a guy who is just about a franchise player.
I heart Oli. And I hope he does get traded. Jokinen holds the NHL record for playing the most amount of games without ever playing a single playoff game, having spent his career with a terrible NYI team followed by Florida.
Buffalo wants this guy.
Max could remind FL fans of Pavel Bure days…
Buf could offer up Max & Campbell – if FL can get a deal done with Campbell, it might let them move out bouwmester too, for a high return, as I dont think the've been thrilled with him.
I agree.
This guy is always a solid pick in my hockey pools as well. Very consistent.
Buffalo could definitely use a man of his talent right now.
I dunno.. could you imagine Florida fans in a few years when they look back at their still-crap team and think… how the HELL did we lose Luongo, Jokinen and Bouwmeester for this crap?
Their only bright spot is Nathan Horton.
Agree. They screwed up Luongo, could of kept the best goalie in the league for years with a long term deal and spend some $ to bring in decent players and show Roberto they are serious. Fact is, management isn't serious about winning – they draft poorly, trade poorly, and hold onto average guys for too long. O and the UFAs they bring in…Roberts? Belfour?
Calgary trading Tanguay for Jokinen? Pass the hooch this way. Wasn’t the whole idea of trading Tanguay to clear up cap space to re-sign players next year? How exactly does taking on another 5 million contract do that? You think the 250,000 saved is gonna be enough to give dion and huselius there well deserved raises?
Yes but if you landed Jokinen for Tanguay, you wouldn't feel bad about letting Langkow walk.
Exactly
You guys are stupid. why would Florida give up Jokinen, a player that they spent 4 years building around??? Think guys.
sorry chanman but comparing afinogenov to one of the pure goal scores ever i think your degrating bure a little too much
As far asthat deal is concerned good for florida but with the intent they can lock up campbell for a few years then ya the trade is good
I think Jokinen would look good in a senators jersey.Give up our first round pick, and maybe a young prospect.Could be just the type of player the sens need to go the distance.
