Not a bad move.  Clearly the team is heading in a younger direction with Carter, Richards, Umberger, Pitkanen, Meyer, Jones, Timonen, Niittymaki, and possibly Calder if he ever decides to play.  They also have Picard, Ruzicka, Potulny, Downie, and Giroux waiting.  Signing Knuble keeps a veteran presence on the team, as well as somebody that can put the lotion in the basket.  If they could just dump Hatcher and get something good for Forsberg in a month or two if they haven't turned it around, they should be in great shape in about two or three years.

The Flyers need to find any way to trade hatcher and rathje off this team, they are completely incompetent in the “new nhl.” Until we get both of these slugs off the team, I don’t think the Flyers will make it past the 1st round of the playoffs. They’re extremely slow.

An option is what NJ did w/ Malakhov and trade him and a draft pick for a bag of pucks. Flyers might be able to trade hatcher and rathje later into the season when their salary goes down.

Idealy then we’d need to trade Forsberg for a talented young defensemen and a high draft pick…Forsberg’s value will be extremely high when teams need a star to help them in the playoffs. Although, the Flyers may be better off keeping Forsberg and signing some defensemen in the offseason (getting rid of hatcher + rathje opens up 7mill in cap space)

The Flyers main goal should be to rebuild the defense, until then, they’ll always be beat on breakaways. Niittymaki can only do so much…

Knuble signing is good, he always plays w/ effort and reminds me of LeClair with his play around the net…good signing

I would say this is a solid signing for Philadelphia. Every team can use a guy like Knuble.

This is fantastic news. I was afraid they were gonna let him walk or trade him since the youth movement is strong on this team. This is the kind of guy every team wants.

Good for the Flyers and their Fans…

Knuble was always a class act in Boston, and always gave 100%-  I wish the B's never let him go—

Until the Flyers find some way to rid themselve of Hatcher and Rathje, could they at least force them to play the side closest to the boards?  Rathje was caught on the ice for what seemed like ten minutes last night before he took that penalty.  I didn't think it was possible for him to get slower but when he is tired it does not appear as if he is moving.

I agree they are better off playing with the Phantoms I dont mind having a bunch of rookies mess up as long as i dont have to watch hatcher and rathje fish and flail around, just painfull

Apparently LeClair was waived by the penguins today.  An article on philly.com says the flyers are interested in him since Calder sucks.  Personally, I don't think he would help that much, but it would be nice to bring him here for the rest of the year so he can retire as a flyer.  If the team's going downhill, no reason not to.  At least it'll be a good gesture to a fan favorite.  I'm sure it would make some fans happy to go see him again.  He probably wouldn't mind it because his kids and the wifey still live Bryn Mawr, which is about 30 min outside of Philly.
