Forget Forsberg, Gainey chasing Hossa!

According to TFP.com the Ottawa sun reports that Bob Gainey has zero interest in UFA Peter Forsberg and is trying to put a deal together for Marian Hossa.

Check it out:

Apperently Atlanta wants a current roster player, top pick & top defensive prospect. The current roster player they want is said to either be Higgins, Ryder or possibly even Dandenault(read that somewhere else).

If Bob Gainey needs to give up a roster player to get Hossa then I believe most fans would say “Go For It!”

Hossa is said to be a playoff no-show but I think he would fit on Koivu’s wing and might give Saku that extra motivation knowing he has a top player on his side.

A deal that I would put together:

Ryder(Current Roster Player)/Yemelin(Defensive Prospect)/Dandenault + 1rst round pick

For:

Hossa/Prospect/late pick.

If any GM in the league can make a good deal it is Bob Gainey, Fans can trust he won’t give up Higgins or anything important youth. Giving the first round pick seems a little farfetched for Bob Gainey considering the draft is supposed to be really strong this year….But we’ll see.

Any thoughts? Would you trade Higgins+others for Hossa?
