A somewhat bizzare chain of events occurred tonight involving New York Islanders forward Bill Guerin.

Guerin was pulled from the Islanders’ lineup after the warmup, just prior to this evening’s game against the Buffalo Sabres.

According to a source, Guerin is not hurt and there is a strong belief he was taken off the ice and out of New York’s lineup in order to wait for a trade.

Guerin, who would be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, has a no-move clause and sources close to the veteran forward say he has not yet been asked to waive it.

However, it would appear pending his approval, Guerin is on the move.

lol  i just tried to report this aswell. just sent it in.  oh well.  hope he's going to pittsburgh.

derek morris is also a healthy scratch tonight by the way.

  2. Rico420 says:

Morris has apparently given a list of teams to Maloney he's going to play for and is sitting out until he's traded so as to not hurt himself – sounds kind of like a team move to me..not a complete jerk move after all.

Guerin on the other hand this is odd – it's almost like when Oates was traded to the Bruins from St. Louis.

  3. RossCreek says:

Sources indicate Guerin possibly on the move to one of Washington, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh although nothing confirmed, aside from the belief New Jersey, Boston & Philadelphia are all out.

  4. futurebruin says:

yeah guerin is a great player..islanders should ge quite the compensation for him..im not surprised the bruins arent in on it..they need a left handed shot to help with scoring and power play and guerin obviously doesnt fit into that role

  5. RossCreek says:

Erik Cole may be the man their looking for. We've all heard the rumors… if the Oil lose tonite, he might be on the move tomorrow.

Add Montreal to the liast possibly in on Guerin.

  7. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

gotta think its Detroit or New Jersey. They always go after the seasoned guys. Maybe San Jose or Calgary.

  8. RossCreek says:

    Looks like Washington

  9. goldman says:

so what does everybody think they will get for Guerin?

I bet he goes back to the isles next season I'm told he really likes it there, and Snow will probably give him a job he loves his fellow Americans Dougie will be back as well watch and see

  10. RossCreek says:

Well, CBC stated they believe Guerin's headed to Washington. And now St. Louis Blues blogger Andy Strickland disputes that. He says NOT Boston, New Jersey or Washington. Eklund says its NOT Philli. TSN also states it is NOT Boston. Could it be Montreal? Its in the East.

    Atl – No
    Bos – apparently not
    Buf – possible
    Car – possible
    Fla – not likely
    Mtl – possible
    NJ – apparently NOT
NYR – doubt the Isles would send him to hated rivals
    Ott – nope
    Phi – apparently not
    Pit – possible
    Tampa – No
    Tor – No
    Wash – apparently not

    Buffalo, Carolina, Montreal, Pittsburgh??

  11. RossCreek says:

    **UPDATE**

Looks like F Bill Guerin is on his way to the MONTREAL CANADIENS!! (unconfirmed)

Rumor has it the Habs have a 2nd deal in place that would send one of their top 6 forwards heading to Calgary to open up room for Guerin's addition. Stay tuned, but it looks like the Habs made a stellar pick-up.

  12. goldman says:

    at what cost?

  13. intelligentscorpio says:

The only team it makes sense to acquire Guerin would be Pittsburgh. Montreal has to turn around and ship Kovalev or Tanguay back to Calgary to accomodate Guerin.
