Interesting Leafs Should Clean House Article

The Sun Media is reporting that it may be time for the Leafs to clear house.

It is suggested that as part of the house cleaning the leafs should rebuild by trading away their players to acquire assets that can be used to rebuild. The players who are mentioned in the article that the Leafs should trade include Sundin, Tucker, Jason Blake, Kubina, Raycroft and Ponikarovsky. The names that are in the should keep section include Antropov, Toskala, Kaberle and McCabe.

An interesting read. Read the full article from here

I read the link; thought it was decent, so I voted if Sundin should be traded. No joke, these were the results…

    Yes: 51%
    No: 25%
    Don't Care 25%

How the hell do you have 101%? And don't give me that crap about giving 110% etc.

  2. arigold says:

Oh look, Steve Simmons thinks the Leafs should rebuild.  Thanks Steve, how insightful.  How you have managed to go this long without accepting one of the many General Mananger positions that must get thrown your way on a daily basis, is a testament to how committed you are to writing horribly boring articles.

    Thanks Steve, loser.

what a revelation. gimme a break.

The Leafs should rebuild? What a cosmically staggering brain wave of superhuman genius that is. But it's not as easy as trading Mats and pawning Raycroft off on some rookie deputy assistant GM's intern…. Until you get rid of Richard Peddie and the Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan's 58% ownership, MLSE as it pertains to the Leafs will be a perennial fiasco of internal power struggles and petty infighting that ultimately parlays into the what we see on the ice.

  6. ferron says:

The leafs have been cleaning house every years for the last 50 years!

  7. gregpb says:

Agreed with the above mentioned players.

To Flames: Darcy Tucker, Andrew Raycroft

To Leafs: 2008 2nd rounder, Cory Sarich

To Stars: Jason Blake and Hal Gill

To Leafs: Jussi Jokinen, D prospect, 2009 3rd rounder

To Pens: Pavel Kubina, Kyle Wellwood

    To Leafs: Jordan Staal

was this article posted in "Duh! Magazine"?

  9. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

he recommends trading Poni and keeping McCabe…well Poni has no trade value, and McCabe has a NTC so they're both staying.

people tend to be absent minded about alot of this. yes the leafs need to rebuild, but there are 15 teams in the NHL that if i were in charge of, I'd rebuild, or at least take a few steps backwards.

    You need help.

  11. ChyldProdigy says:

Leafs Lunch makes an excellent point on this topic: JFJ will be fired if they don't make the playoffs, so he essentially can NOT throw in the towel by making trades without also saying 'Please fire me, I failed in my only goal'.
Although I think most people are in agreement that a rebuild is the next step, the Leafs are going to need to tank at least 5 of their next 10 before it is entirely obvious that is the only route.  That means that until JFJ gets canned we won't see anything happen, his hands are tied.
The absolute WORST case scenario would be what happened last year.  Become buyers at the deadline (lousy Perrault…) make a final push and come up short.  Then we could look forward to the EXACT same under-achieving squad next year, since most of them are multi-year contracts.  Yikes.

Can we just officially change this website name to LeafsHockeyTradeRumours.com?

Why are you guys so interested in mediocre teams? Follow the game, not the city or country.
  13. leafy says:

When I heard that Richard Peddie lobbied to give JFJ a contract extension last summer, I was stunned out of my wits.

As long as people like Peddie who don't know what the fu** they're doing continue to run the Leafs, we'll never see a championship.

if the leafs would just go out and spend some money on some real talent instead of playing with the used to be good players then maybe they might put together a good team.everyone wants to trade away sundin, hes your top scorer!!!! why not get rid of the up and down antropov or ponikarovsky i like tucker but how long they gonna keep this guy around,he's not the same guy he once was.i think toskala is gonna be a good goalie for some time ,so why are they keeping on to raycroft he should be playing in the minors.heck they would be better to bring back cujo as a backup at least he'll give ya some wins and pay with some consistancy!!!!

  17. jarcpitre says:

LOL. He is bad isn't he. How this guy stays employed is beyond me. Did you ever here him speak, he is a loser.

  18. jarcpitre says:

The next 2yrs are very strong drafts. The Leafs should try to unload as much as possible to get as many picks in the next 2 drafts. It is funny that they are mentioning this now, and there must of been about 20 posts just on this exact topic. Its like that guy in the back that says hey I got an idea and it ends up being the same thing you've been talking about for hours.

  19. intelligentscorpio says:

You must be one of those Leafs fans who believe their players are worth their weight in gold. Who the heck would give you Hudler and all those picks you want for Sundin? Also, why would Jordan be traded for Wellwood and Kubina.
You do not make any sense and/or rationale for your trades….oh I forgot you are a Make Beliefs Fan.

  22. Habsman1991 says:

But in Bizarro world that means hes a good leafs fan. Good old bizarro world where even non leafs fans think toronto can win a cup. No wait even Bizarro world isnt that messed up

  23. Habsman1991 says:

never going to happen for mats sundin and darcy tucker i would maybe give the second round pick and theres a thing called salary cap but way to make a terrible thing seem hopeless though

  24. Habsman1991 says:

but first a look at Steve Simmons amazing discovery of what he calls "water" and other blantatly obvious things that we say in the toronto sun yet still get people to pay a buck for
