Is Fedorov The Second Line Center The Habs Need ?
TQS, a french TV station in Montreal, reported earlier tonight that the Canadiens and the Blue Jackets are currently discussing a trade…The rumor itself is apparently coming from the Ottawa Sun. The Canadiens would receive center Sergei Fedorov and would send Radek Bonk and Janne Niinimaa to Columbus.
My Take: I’m not sure I like that trade. Sure, Radek Bonk becomes an UFA at the end of the season, and I guess you could say that he is kinda overpaid for a defensive forward…but I really like his work this season. As for Niinimaa, I don’t have a clue why the Blue Jackets would want him, but I’m not gonna complain.
But can we afford Fedorov ? I don’t know…$6.0m is a lot of money !!! When is he becoming a UFA ?
…but on the other hand, a line with Samsonov, Kovalev and Fedorov…now that sounds good !
