Jake Gardiner or Nazem Kadri could land a respectable return

The best-case-scenario hope, of course, is that various developments will make Phaneuf and the rest of the core look better soon enough; that Morgan Rielly emerges as a home-grown bargain; that Peter Holland continues to produce as a trade-market steal; that trade bait like Jake Gardiner or Nazem Kadri could land a respectable fish; that Bolland returns from injury and re-signs for a reasonable number when he hits free agency this summer; that Jonathan Bernier’s goaltending can cover up enough the rest of the flaws through another money-drenched playoff run.

You have to imagine a combination of Kadri, Gardiner, Reimer and a 1st could land a pretty big return. Just saying.

This is it. I see a huge deal coming down at any time. Hold on to your seat.

Some NHL teams have confirmed the Leafs have made Kadri available…

Does anyone else believe, because I do, that Peter Holland is pushing Kadri out?

Kadri has exceptional skill, but Holland is a less skilled scoring center that has a way better (not even close) 200 ft game. What would you prefer for a second-line center?

Also, is it that shocking the Leafs acquired Holland? He was drafted, as a first-round pick, for the coach of the Ducks at the time to develop, which was Carlyle.

They have pretty much produced at the same pace over the last-while….Yes, Kadri did face tougher defences, but he was also playing with exceptional players. Also, Kadri actually gets PP time while all of Holland points came from even strength.

Would it be shocking for the Leafs to trade Kadri? Nope, but it will be for something huge…A first-line talent.

I agree from what I have seen, Holland has a better all around game. They both need face off improvement and re capable of more. As for Kadri, I can only see him available based on part of a package for an impact type player. But yes, I think he is available, like all Leafs, for the right deal. I don’t think Nonis is dying to trade him, Gardiner or Reimer but will in the right deal, for quality younger impact talent.

Kadri is as I have always said…a talented guy who is lazy at times and has a big ego and feels he is entitled to what he gets, but not necessarily willing to earn it. Carlyle has basically said so himself. He reminds me so much of Ribeiro it’s not funny. He leaves you constantly wanting more.
I liked Holland from the start. He is more consistent, but with less creativity. I have no problem moving Kadri if the return is going to help the Leafs.
It may not be for a younger guy though. If Colorado falls off and the Leafs are in the thick of it nearing the deadline…I wouldn’t be surprised to see a deal involving Kadri and Stastny.
