Leafs Officially Out Of Playoff Hunt

As I watched the 6-2 loss to Montreal on Saturday,

I noticed one thing…the Leafs didn’t try. It comes to

a shock to me that the Leafs aren’t still contending,

I thought they would be placed 9th, maybe 10th in

the eastern conference standings. Well I was wrong.

The Leafs currently sit 12th in the East and Boston

is on two points behind the buds wth 68 points (the

Leafs only have 70 points). If you look in the East

standings the Leafs are only 1 point behind the New

York Islanders for 10th in the conference and 7 points back of the Canadiens for 8th in the East, for

all you hopefuls out there, here are the teams that the Buds will be facing in their last 12 games, the

Flyers, the Sabers, the Sens, and the Devils. Good

luck winning against those teams!

By the end of the year the Leafs should be placed

in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, there is an

upside to this…the Leafs will be guaranteed a top 10

draft pick. With the likes of Erik Johnson, Phil Kessel,

Jonathan Towes, Jordan Staal, Michael Frolok, Nicklas Backstrom, and Juri Tlustsy the Leafs look to have a solid first round pick as long as they don’t

pull an Antropov.

This will be Quinn’s last year and you can excpect

Paul Maurice to be the next Maple Leafs head coach.

For the remainder of the year the Leafs should play

their young guys and see what they can do in the NHL., here is what the roster should look like:

Steen__Sundin__Tucker

Kilger__Allison__Stajan

Wellwood__*Williams__Ponikarovsky

Ondrus__*Kukumberg__*Hoffman/*Suglobov

Antropov

McCabe__Kaberle

*White__*Bell

Richardson__*Moro

Berg

_Tellqvist_

_Ford/Racine_

Injuries: Woznewski, Harrison, Coliacovo

Scratches/Marlies: Belak, Domi, O’Neill, Khavonov

*=call-ups

To me, that’s what the roster should look like for the remainder of the year, good luck next year Leafs!
